Followthelight Verified Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 You can watch any game, any broadcast, on any device for less than $150/year. It's a freaking steal. Not to mention all games are archived, and you skip to any part in the game as well, and you can do this on any device. MLB.TV is excellent.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 I wonder if bad publicity will make sportsnet rethink thier justification for not paying for the suit. Judging by the majority here thinking Rogers is pretty cheap and lame for penny pinching on something of this nature, id assume the general public would have a similar opinion as this board.
Followthelight Verified Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 No, it's there s***** video player. I get smoother streams watching on Kodi through the Sports Devil add on. But mine is smooth.....so why is it OK for me and not you? I have not had any issues using MLB.TV.
Governator Community Moderator Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 This was also in May... If Travis gets sent down in his rookie year much like Pompey, he's suddenly making 50k not 500 This. He wasn't flushed with money at the time (probably still isn't), he didn't just get a $500K cheque... He gets paid out like you or I, bi-weekly, with his deductions taken off just like an employee and this was at the start of the season. His signing bonus was for only $200K back in 2012 and after paying taxes, bills, and probably his agent and well 3 years later he likely wasn't left with much. I could see a $1000 suit being a tough purchase for him at the time.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Not sure people realize how much league min is... it's more then most president's and CEO's at major corporations make. What are you talking about? The average CEO of a publicly traded company makes north of 10 mil. The point is Sportsnet paid over 5 billion for hockey and they are squeezing a kid for a few grand. I know more than a couple of people who make 500K a year who are in debt up to their eyeballs. People spend what they make and spend like the people they spend time with.

Mine is smooth as well, its great. Only issue I have is even when Im watching live it seems to be 15 or so seconds behind. I get texts from friends and alerts from the Score at times before it even happens on my TV. Does anybody else have this issue?
Caper Verified Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Agreed. Regardless of how much Travis makes if Sportsnet wants to do a contrived bit of manufactured candour about Travis buying a suit (that presumedly he wasn't even planning to buy) than they should front the cost. Yes. And you know damn well the suit store was getting free advertising. Is probably a Sportsnet sponsor.

MLB.TV is excellent. And on your laptop you can enter in all your fantasy players to get notifications when they're pitching or at bat. Which is phenomenal.

Does he even get much of that money? At the time he probably earned ~1 month pay of league minimum. It's still a nice amount but he's a smart kid, why would he spend 1k on something he doesn't need when he still doesn't have any kind of financial guarantees?

CHRIS Verified Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 MLB.TV is overrated. The video is rarely smooth throughout an entire game and you don't get to see any of the pregame/post game. What kind of device are you watching it on? If I run it directly through the app on my SmartTV (LG), it can get a bit glitchy, but if I watch it on my Surface, or throw it from my Surface to the TV through a wireless display adapter, it's perfect. I'll also take the odd glitchiness to be able to watch every game from every team anywhere I go.
FFantasy Verified Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Bonuses, severance packages, tons of pay outs for certain milestones reached. They rape stockholders. Please calm down dude. What did I do to you to receive this kind of hostility?

TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Wait these vignettes are arranged ahead of time...I feel so deceived. I thought Hazel Mae, non-monetarily, paid the athletes in these stories. I love stories like this as it allows the fans to form an opinion on how it affects the team. If this story came out in May when the team was 23 and 29, some fans probably would have s*** on Jose saying that Travis is batting well and Jose should shut the f*** up. Overall I don't have an opinion on it. Melissa Austria (who still has the bit on GotStyle's site) should step up now and reimburse Devon for the PR of it.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 If Bautista has that much of a problem then he should pay for the suit. Nice to see him standing up for Travis. But it probably isn't that big of a deal.

Art Vandelay Verified Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Yes, thank you. They are a featured sponsor and get mentioned all the time, it's pretty tacky that they didn't comp the suit. But here's an idea, why doesn't he just return the suit? Because it's likely been tailored for him. It's too late to return it.
Governator Community Moderator Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 You know what would have been great? Travis had said, ok sure I'll buy a suit for TV. Turn left at the lights, hang a right, another left. Park here. Sears as a 25% discount on suits this week so we're going to shop here, ok?
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Rogers has allowed this to linger for 3 months? Buy the f***ing suit. Travis did an interview with Sportsnet just yesterday. This is crazy to me. Exactly. Seems petty of them to not just flip him a grand and brush it under the rug.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Judging by Bautista's reaction I don't think he had any idea he was paying for the suit until the segment ended or it came out of his paycheque.
