Buck Martinez is the voice of the Blue Jays? I thought Jerry Howarth was.

 

Back in the days when I still used TV, I always turned the sound down and listened to the radio. The small delay on the video was annoying but tolerable. Now that I watch all the away games (and those I don't attend at the Skydome) on the internet, it's not an option. The buffering time is too great.

 

I greatly prefer watching the opposing team's telecast because I like to get an outsider's viewpoint (although the White Sox announcers take homerism to the extreme) and I find Buck and Tabler to be annoying. Unfortunately, most other teams use Pitchtracker only sparingly or not at all, and I want to see every pitch to every batter so I usually end up watching the Jays' telecast despite Buck and Pat. Sigh.

 

I sure wish other teams would use Pitchtracker as often as the Jays do.

Buck is already play-by-play. Move Buck to radio, Orsillo to play-by-play, Zaun to colour, Tim and Sid to studio analysis.

Yes Buck is bad but it doesn't bother me too much, i watch the games on mute most of the time anyways.

Away series are a nice way to get a break with some new commentators (I know you can choose which to listen to in Premium, but I usually just go with the default)

Whoa, Don Orsillo is my favourite play by play guy, maybe, probably. Tough between him, Len Kasper and DeWayne Staats. Regardless, would be awesome to have him replace Tabler and move Buck to colour.

 

One thing Buck does that really bothers me is that he blatantly ripped off Gary Thorne's home run call. Every time the Jays hit a dinger, I cringe.

I find myself going to the Jays broadcast more since I've become a bit more biased. Need that excitement from the announcers when the Jays do something good.

I like him well enough, but agree he's better as a color guy.

 

He's does stumble just a little too much , but he's still likeable despite this.

 

Also I'd agree he's more for the casuals than the hardcore guys like are on here......heh.

We saw the disasters the other people subbing in were earlier this year (Faulds, even Devlin was bad this year).

 

I like Buck, He's fun to make fun of, but he makes the broadcast "Blue Jays" for me. We got used to him when he came in, and can do the same with a new one, but he's decent.
