Masterbather Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I would consider trolling the Yankees by having Dickey start against them on Friday. Hes so wasted pitching the last game of a series against Oakland. Although we can't look past Oakland they are playing well and have Danny V ready to make Gibbons look bad. A's will have Sonny Gray going in the Thursday game, don't want to give that one away either. It's a tough situation. I'd go MB, Hutch, Estrada vs Oakland, Price, Dickey, MB vs NYY. MB's career numbers aren't great against NY, but I'd still trust him over Hutch right now, and it still gives you a chance in the Thursday game with Estrada vs Gray.

Estrada would be going on 3 days rest in this scenario. Probably not going to happen.
nonamejays Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I'd switch Buehrle and Hutchison and keep everyone else in the same spots.
Kevin9394 Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Gibbon said he planned to start Dickey in a short rest in order for him starting against Yankees on Sunday. So, It might be.... Hutch, Dickey, MB against As Price, Estrada,Dickey against Yankees
Brenner Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Not a chance, too many games behind to few games left to play. Better luck next year.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Estrada would be going on 3 days rest in this scenario. Probably not going to happen. Yeah, did the math wrong on that one. Then the only thing that makes sense is Dickey on short rest, but, even though he's a knuckleballer, he's 40, he throws a hard knuckler and we've already asked him to do this once. I don't want to start abusing the guy in August. Maybe we start Hutch and pray he survives 3-4 innings and go to the pen. Given the off days and the fact the pen hasn't been overworked of late, it's doable.

Hutch is so frustrating in how he'll go through multi-inning stretches where he looks great and then seems to completely lose it.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 New Poll just out in Yankee's area online newspaper. Small sample but kinda interesting: How much should the Yankees panic right now? They need to take a deep breath and count backward from 10. 42.81% (119 votes) Well, I'm totally freaking out. 35.25% (98 votes) No need to even reach for the alarm ... yet. 19.42% (54 votes) What, me worry? 2.52% (7 votes) Total Votes: 278 This is an unscientific poll designed to encourage reader discussion.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 haha, awesome. That LA series we are hitting will be even more exciting now...obviously we are aren't going to keep winning every gm but I hope we execute well and avoid any prolonged losing stretches.

The LA series? I hope we beat them for our own divisional aspirations, as for the wild card race, let the Yankees worry about that.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 (edited) Ault, yeah I definitely remember you, why not stick with your old handle? To be honest I tried. Im not great on a computer and when I tried to get my old handle on this board signing up, it wouldn't take. "DougAultHits2HRs" Not sure why. So I went with Big Cecil Fielder and a picture of Doug Ault took me awhile to abandon the old board but with the "Sempai"s and BJs etc of the world on there it became very lame. Yeah, took me a while too, only joined this board last week. The old board is a disaster. I tried to give it as much time as I possibly could, I wasn't even bothering to post there much myself, there was really no benefit to doing so anymore.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 The LA series? I hope we beat them for our own divisional aspirations, as for the wild card race, let the Yankees worry about that. LA, Houston and KC are all competitors to the Jays' playoff aspirations, just one tier behind the Yankees and O's. Two weeks ago our prime aspiration was for the Jays to make a wild card spot. One week ago it was the division. Now it should be home field throughout the playoffs because we know it makes a huge difference for this team. Two weeks ago I'd definitely be cheering the Royals over the Twins when they face off...now it'd be the opposite.

I liked a few guys like MAC33, but ended up only talking with them or fighting like an idiot myself with trolls. Here I just put them on "ignore". I just gave you your first "thanks". Welcome to the Board.

I am going to both Friday and Sunday's games. Cannot freaking wait. Last few years the Jays have only had 1 visit to Angel Stadium and this years will by far be the best

Kevin9394 Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Well, "was pondering" not "planned".
jays76 Verified Member Posted August 11, 2015 Author Posted August 11, 2015 It'd be great if we could gain another game prior to the Yankees series. Then 2 of 3 would put us in the division lead.
