RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Cola has options? Then this is retarded asset management
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 if I'm the Yankees I try to get him. Use him against David Price.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Yeah, best to dump valuable players while merely speculating your own future moves to replace them. Seems like a sound strategy.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Cola has options? Then this is retarded asset management as far as I can see, yes. He has 3 years in the bigs, and he has yet to be optioned this year. I'm not sure that if we were to option him today, call him up in a month and option him again that makes him exposed.
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Only logical explanation is they were trying to move Valencia's money. That has to be it but that still blows if you're trying to win it all, not like he's making a ton.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Didn't AA say yesterday or a few days ago that as a GM he realizes now that talent is not the only important thing, but clubhouse chemistry and a winning attitude?
flafson Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Only logical explanation is they were trying to move Valencia's money. He's on 1.7M this year, about 40% left so that's about 700k. Can that be such an issue? They took on about 7.5M when they brought in Price. They saved about 2M on Reyes or ~800k for the remainder of the season. I guess it's possible they had a strict budget to stick to.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I guess AA couldn't help himself after making some good moves the past week.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Also, Tulo not playing today ? something to do with it
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Also, Tulo not playing today ? something to do with it Then its simple. Option Colabello. Call up Kawasaki.
crmr Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 It would be really stupid if they actually have Kawasaki up here just because he's a 'good clubhouse guy'. Most of the team this year is new and probably don't know/care about his antics anyway...

jayswin11 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Did I mention this move makes no sense. And how many guys do we have in our pen now? Osuna Sanchez Hawkins Lowe Schultz Hendricks Cecil Loup Now only a 3 man bench Cola/Smoak Muni Navarro This move makes no sense. Valencia more valuable than even having an 8th RP at this point. Did somebody mess up and accidentally DFA him???? I do not understand
North of 60 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Colabello is officially below replacement level now, he's a liability at this point.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 AA is very, very drunk...he's been partying hardcore since the Price trade.

An important stretch, and I'll let (Gibbons) have the group that he wants." Since when does a GM take orders from a manager? AA rarely ever throws anyone under the bus. The fact that he's directly linking this move to Gibbons is surprising. Either he knows it's stupid and is blaming someone else for it, or he's being truthful, in which case he's an idiot for listening to a bigger idiot.

An important stretch, and I'll let (Gibbons) have the group that he wants." Since when does a GM take orders from a manager? Since always. It's always been Gibby's say on which players round out the bottom of the roster. A lot of GMs have similar relationships with their managers, and it's always f***ing stupid. I've gone from being an actual fan of Gibby to begin hating him as the manager in such a short time.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 There has to be something behind the scenes we don't know Danny Valencia took an upper decker in AA's private bathroom toilet. AA didn't find it funny = Valencia DFA'd. It's that simple.
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Cola and a RP should have been moved
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Arden Zwelling @ArdenZwelling 4m4 minutes ago Both AA and Gibby insinuated there's likely to be a move in next few days that would've affected Valencia's roster spot anyway. #BlueJays Pompey. But still. f***ING COLABELLO Valencia has a bit more versatility and will hit more than Colla all said and done. I liked him as a piece and someone else will grab him. As others have said there has to be more to this. Carerra?....no issue with this move.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 @Wilnerness590: #Bluejays do still have a budget, so I wonder if the Valencia dump has more to do with his salary. Also wonder if NYY grab him. #Jays
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Valencia going to the Yankees would almost be poetic justice at this point.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 There has to be something behind the scenes we don't know that's what I was thinking. I was thinking whos wife did Valencia nail to get kicked off the team. Im surprised they couldn't trade Valencia whos got an .838 ops for some sort of prospect
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 So the Jays can still trade him right?
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 There's no logic in the excuse that we'll see a move in the next few days that would have affected Valencia's spot on the team. Valencia's spot never should have been in jeopardy, because whoever they bring in over the next few days should have been replacing the ******** eighth reliever, not Valencia. Colabello should be down right now, and they should be preparing to move to a seven man pen. How many times does Martin have to end up on 2nd for them to realize that having a 3-man bench is retarded?
