SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 dickey is delusional if he thinks hes a number 1 He's never said he was a #1. Even just after we acquired him. IIRC.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Jays and PHI agreed to the framework of a Hamels deal but Hamels wouldn't waive his no trade clause (months ago). What more do you want him to do? And people say being in Canada has no impact Wouldn't surprise me to know that a team.like Texas probably told Hamels that they were interested

SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Anthopoulos should hold a f***ing seminar on how to get things done without a word having been leaked. And kudos to Dombrowski, who also seems to be a guy who shows discretion.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 we get zip for price after this year. Except maybe a high from making the playoffs maybe.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 What are you talking about bro? We are set positionally, we just gotta sign some SP. We got Stroman, Hutch, Sanchez already in there for next yr. Could pick up Dickey's option and Estrada, or sign a couple of FA starters and we are set. We held onto Pompey, Travis, and Pillar. We're good! Yeah, no kidding. I read somewhere that only 20% of bluechip prospects really flourish. Plus, AA seems to have a knack for re-building barren farm systems. Lastly, if the Jays start to win and start packing the park, Rogers will certainly be a little more flush with cash and let the FO start to sign some big names who want the moon. Lastly Lastly, if we do make the playoffs, there's f***ing that.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I really hope we can grab another starter. I would love to never see Hutch start again. Could be nice out of the pen. I would like him out of the rotation very much. Hutch plus an Alford for a Fiers or something would be nice. Someone more consistent.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 lol it's going to be a rebuild at some point for every club Except the Cardinals, who I think must have signed a deal with Satan at some point.

Snider was considered a pretty big bust and he's at least been able to stick. Rasmus was a huge prospect and never reached his potential but has had a pretty good career so far.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 Apparently the Blue Jays told the Tigers they could pick any prospect to headline the package. Pretty glad that they picked Norris instead of Pompey/Alford. Not sure what the f*** is wrong with Norris but his peripherals in AAA this year are terrible.... Sanchezian, even. Tigers are worse than the Jays developing pitching; Norris could be worse now
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I think it is perfectly realistic that Dickey could be picked up, especially with a good 2nd half. I agree. He's had like 6 great starts in a row. I am 95% sure they pick him up. He can at least be traded for something if they have no intention of playing him.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Love this guy already. I didn't know much about him until recently, but through his interviews and his blog, he seems like an awesome guy.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Hutch might be Might be trade bait Huh never though about that! Hmmm Hutch, Shanchez, Alford Tellez and for Archer, Boxberger and Jaso might work too! Get it done Ninja!

True, but FA's like Snyder and Rasmus are a dime a dozen, and typically easy to sign. I've never been a Norris fan, but I think Castro could be something. I'll miss him. No one else makes me cry. I am almost relieved that Reyes is gone. I know he's a great guy, but his error-a-game antics (not reality, it's just how it seemed to me) was getting uber annoying.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I'm a little upset that Synd, Norris and to a lesser extent Hoffman were traded before Sanchez. Sanchez is sort of proven in the big leagues. Those other guys are just prospects and more apt to be busts than really good.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I probably would. I like TCA's rotation, but it doesn't have any depth with the recent trades. Wat???
Candide Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 even if the Jays don't manage to retain Price, would you say that this team still has a 2-3 year window provided that they sign some pitchers this off-season? the offence still looks like it has elite potential next season. hurts to lose all of those prospects this year, but in the end, they did get Donaldson, Tulowitzki, and Price. not too many people would have expected this at this point last year; at least, the future was mortgaged for guys who have played at an elite level in their respective positions for a sustained period of time (i.e. 3-5+ seasons), something that wasn't really the case with Dickey, Johnson, and Reyes. with this in mind, I approve of the recent trades to push for contention even if the Jays fall short this year. 2016 LF: Pompey CF: Pillar RF: Bautista 3B: Donaldson SS: Tulowitzki 2B: Travis 1B: EE DH: Smoak/Valencia C: Martin Bench: Carrera, Saunders, Colabello, Goins, etc. SP: Stroman, Hutchison, Sanchez, Dickey (if retained)/Osuna, Estrada. Probably need a #2 and #4 Bullpen: Cecil, Osuna (if not stretched to SP), Schultz, Tepera, Hendriks, Loup. Probably need a closer or set-up man if no one takes the reins in 2015. with a lot of players coming off the books, I could see the core intact and AA retooling with free agent signings. the guys that the Jays gave up with the exception of possibly Norris probably wouldn't have made the team until 2017 at best. At least by keeping guys like Stroman/Sanchez/Travis/Pompey who can contribute now, there's at least another 2-3 years of realistic playoff potential. The rebuild probably won't start until 2018, which by then some of the vets would still have value and the remaining prospects (if they make it) could start to contribute - guys like Pentecost, Alford, DSJ, etc.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 How are people still failing to understand Hutch has been one of our best starters this year? It blows my mind that people advocate moving him to the pen.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I advocate moving him to another team. Mike Fiers is essentially a 30 year old version of Hutch. Why should the Jays trade Hutch and Alford for him? Doesn't solve the rotation issue, and they lose a top 5 prospect within the org for a lateral move.
