Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Hutchinson is as reliable as ISIS. That's what the hell. Holy f*** just stop already.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Don't drink the water in Saskatchewan, people. It's not all bad
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 How are people still failing to understand Hutch has been one of our best starters this year? It blows my mind that people advocate moving him to the pen. Results. Hutch has good peripherals but they haven't materialized into actual results.
labadee Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I feel bad for Stroman. He never got tweet back from Price but Hawkins and Bautista did lol. He sent him so many. how dare he disrespect the 2014 Socially Savvy Rookie Award winner
Followthelight Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Results. Hutch has good peripherals but they haven't materialized into actual results. He has had command issues.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Let's just hope price doesn't get injured he has some of the best mechanics in the game so unlikely

He shouldn't be out of the rotation but are you buying him as a sub 4 ERA pitcher? I know I'm not.

His BABIP is .351, with a 65% strand rate. I can't see why you wouldn't buy it.
frizzer1 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 If Hutchison had been as bad at home as on the road that would have been a very bad sign....But the fact that at home he has been excellent tells me that his stuff is still there and there must be something going on besides ability...??

I can't see why you wouldn't buy it. His BABIP was .290 last year and he still had an inflated ERA. I don't recall what his strand rate was. Obviously, anytime a guy has an ERA way above his xFIP there are going to be stats to suggest he'll turn it around. He just seems really inconsistent, and yes I am using the eye test but he tends to just lose it for periods. How many pitchers have had an ERA much higher (not 90 points but say 40-50) than their xFIP over a long career? Legitimate question I am curious.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Please get Stroman around to rub elbows with Price. He could convince Price to stay, that infectious little bugger.
Followthelight Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Realistically... The chances of Price resigning are zero. YEah I think so, which sucks, would have rathered AA got someone with a bit of control.

Morrow is a recent example, however the two disparities are coming closer together, and Morrow only has 768 IP under his belt. Only 30 points apart now. Strasberg is a more extreme example, since he K's so many and doesn't walk a lot, but still a lack of IP: 710. I think the best example here is Javier Vazquez: career 4.22 ERA and 3.75 xFIP and a plenty large sample. Still, that's a far cry from Hutchison's ERA-xFIP disparity. EDIT: Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson could qualify as well, but again, you're dealing with extreme cases.

A 3.8-4.0 FIP type of guy. But even so, he has still been one of the team's best starters. Moving him to the pen makes no sense at all.

Molitor Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Read this somewhere today: the last time a team traded for an ace and ended up winning the World Series was the Jays with David Cone in '92. David... Cone. The Toronto Blue Jays. The stars are aligning! Can't be a coincidence! (edit: definitely is a coincidence)
