It seems obvious to me that if Pompey doesn't get moved for pitching, he'll be getting called up as early as next week for LF.

True. Pompey is looking like he's really developed and matured in the minors in a short period. Would love to see him up after July 31

I'm really glad I was in the pool when my phone started blowing up with all the notifications of this trade. I had to s*** my pants

Why cant Troy play tonight? He was in Chicago last night when the trade broke so you have to think he has had plenty of time to get to Toronto

Too much pressure on the equipment manager.

Probably to give him a day to talk to with his family, honey I'm not going to be home for 3 months instead of 3 days. It's a lot to soak in late at night on the road.

I certainly didn't hear that.

he answered the question about whether he feels it is enough without getting a starter to ask him again on Friday and then said something about hopefully you don't have to ask that question.

Busy crying about having to play in Toronto I imagine

Since this lineup is heavily right handed, you hope this means Smoak is in the lineup more going forward.

Or Navarro... *puke*

I'm sorry, but this trade f***ing blows.

We didn't need another bat. Reyes was serviceable. We lead the the majors in runs scored, and 2nd in run differential in baseball. Let me get this right: we acquire a shortstop who costs twice as much, can't stay healthy (and now he's playing on turf.), and we gave up some of our better prospects to do it.

We should have used those two lads we lost to get Hamels, Price, Samardzija, Gallardo, etc.

How do you know this was not tried? It is really silly to hear fans, not you specifically, try to make it seem that Anthopoulos really does not know where the priority is. Would you be willing to give up all of the Jays top 10 prospects for any one of them? Other GMs know what the farm looks like and will most probably be asking for the moon because they know SP is a top priority for the Jays. Anthopoulos did try to get an elite SP but he did not like what was being suggested to he most probably backed out. Just because he does not make it known to the fanbase what he was offering for other pitchers does not mean he didn't try.

You depressed human being

I'm sorry my realism is a downer for you. Hopefully you surround yourself with plenty of naive and optimistic people in real life and are able to carry on living obliviously.

It's really refreshing to see comments from another team's fans excited to take on Reyes contract because it's only $48 million for the next 2 years.

For those wondering what Tulo won't be here tonight, he probably doesn't have his passport. Has to travel to get it, then travel to TO.

AA is getting a starter. By hook or by crook

Well they tried to go after the right type of guy in Carrasco (good young pitcher under control) and it didn't get done. They have since lost 2 tradeable assets and AA just said it would be counter productive to trade from the core of regulars.

s*** man....TT is in Chicago, there has to be 1000 illegal print shops that will do up a passport while he waits!

Would I trade Hoffman Castro and Tinoco for Tulo? 100% yes. Add in that we dumped Reyes and this is great. Losing Hoffman hurts but his year this year has raised some questions and we do have some nice young arms besides him.

Great trade for this year and the next few too

Who cares really, he just got traded last night what is the need to rush him into a game? Give him some time to tie up stuff and embrace Toronto as his new home.

not defending this trade one way or the other but the idea that "we don't need another bat" is wrong. The point is to outscore the other team, a run scored is the same as a run prevented. If the Jays can upgrade at LF or 1B{altbough i like Pompey and Smoak) at a cheaper price than they can upgrade the rotation it would help the team just as much. The Jays don't just need to pitch better, they need to be a better team overall, it doesn't matter how you do it

I personally like the trade because i'm not a believer of either CAstro or Hoffman, if it was Pompey and Norris it would be a different story but i don't think we give up long term big leaguer in this trade.

From a priority point of view it is not wrong - the greatest need is for an elite SP. However, if the fish is not biting you change the bait and if that does not work you move on.

The guaranteed success of the majority of prospects are never a certainty - They develop differently at times. Some only develop to their potential when moved to a different team (wake-up call?), others improve when thrown into the fire, and yet others when given a chance and then sent back down (knows what needs to be worked on and do so). I would have liked to see both Hoffman and Castro a little longer but some times you need to make a move when an opportunity shows up. Improve your MLB team as much as you can, when you can.

He didn't need a passport when he traveled here with the rockies?
