Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Now we get to see for ourselves if Nick Martinez is really as bad as advanced stats show - this is a guy with the Rangers record for most consecutive starts allowing 3 runs or less. Well, he's already allowed 4...

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 People complain AA doesn't know how to put together a bench and finish off the team, but I have to say i really like Valencia, Carerra and Smoak. Thank god he would a way to keep Hendriks (where would the pen be without him) and I even think he deserves credit for CC....depth guy...injury cut his hot strak short last yr... Nobody's perfect, but he's found some good bench/depth guys...even if nobody wants to give him credit

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Navarro catching and Martin DHing again lol. Day game after night game
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Poor Matt Boyd... Has to throw to Navarro in his debut.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Navarro catching and Martin DHing again lol. I get day game after night game and all that s*** but Martin had back to back days off last week and this is a rookie pitcher who could benefit from having a real f***ing C to throw to. Navarro costing us Smoak D and ABs. Put in Taco Bell tomorrow (yes I know he is Venezuelan)
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Poor Matt Boyd... Has to throw to Navarro in his debut. Ugh. Why would they do that? Set him up for success instead...with Martin.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Day game after night game Oh right. Makes sense. It must be hard on catchers to play 2 games in 20 hours.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Wow, I checked the standing, we're in a playoff spot! With like 5 other teams. I hope the race is tight all the way to the end (with the Jays coming through to win the division of course). Makes for some exciting baseball. Love it.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 28, 2015 Author Posted June 28, 2015 Question on the Jays facebook page was if you have the rotation as it is today and the Jays make the Wildcard game who do you want starting that game. Look at these comments: Marco is he is pitching as well as he is now Marco. He's the best we currently have I think it is a no-brainer that you start Buerlhe or Estrada. Picking between the two is where i have difficulty. On one hand Buerhle has the experience. On the other hand Estrada has the fastball command. I think it would come down to who has the better momentum and right now it would be very difficult to pass on Estrada.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Since June 2, when the Jays were 23-30 (pre-game 2 of the double header): Rays: 15-8 Yanks: 13-9 O's: 16-6 Jays: 17-6 Sox: 10-14 A 17-6 run = 2.5 GB gain in the standings.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 ^ take the win streak out and they have been .500 since
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Take the s***** May out and the winning pct is probably .650+
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 I think Justin Smoak f***ed Gibby's wife or something....Navarro at DH today.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 I think Justin Smoak f***ed Gibby's wife or something....Navarro at DH today. AA desperately trying to flip Navvy by building some numbers up. The deadline is in a month after all.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Very possible! Really wish his grand slam would have stayed fair last weekend. Good because the Jays would have won obviously, but it'd also have given him +1 HR and +4 RBI that some GM would probably find interesting enough.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Take the s***** May out and the winning pct is probably .650+ Now, that's real accounting.

Thing is, time to trade him would've been after last off season after a full season as a starting catcher and the team would've had plenty of time to find a backup C. Right now, it's a matter of who would want him for 1/2 a season at 2.5M.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 The manager sets the lineup card. It is ultimately the managers responsibiltiy to put the lineup out there that he feels can win the game. The best lineup. If the General Manager is able to make the manager the play certain players, then that is a weakness in the manager, one that he ought to be held responsible for. Regardless of whether Gibby wants to DH Navarro or whether he is being forced to do so, Gibby is responsible for Navarro being in the lineup.
