CHRIS Verified Member Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Jeff Blair's ineptitude in it's full glory today: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blair-rangers-present-real-test-for-blue-jays/?row=1&row_ids=1617493 Watch as he reads his information on the fly from his MacBook, stumbling over words, correcting himself as he goes along because he's reading and "analyzing" this information for the very first time, while on the air. Unbelievable. Rogers needs to start holding these guys to way higher standards. I stopped watching after the second sponsor's message appeared. How long did he talk for that they had to cram in two sponsor's messages?

I may consider selling my shares in Rogers based on the fact they employ Blair and Barker.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 You are cracked if you think Estrada will be left off the roster. Dickey is pretty valuable in a playoff series because the knuckleball can screw up the other team's swings. I'd only have him go twice through the order maybe the 3rd if he's really pitching well. What I wrote is what I would do, not at what I think the team would do. People forget a lot of things can happen in 40 games. If Estrada has a few bad starts in a row and hutch pitches great then Stroman replacing Estrada looks like the better move.
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Wonder with the close-by out of town series if some travel agencies will be organizing bus trips to them....New York and Baltimore?

QUOTE] Or it can leave you in a 5-0 hole in the 2nd inning. Despite his recent success, Dickey's been pretty bad. However, as you said, a lot can happen in 40 games.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 It's so hard to be a fan of a team while simultaneously interacting with new fans that have uninformed but strong opinions. I mean, it should be fun to just ride Colabello's 0.406 BABIP or Estrada's 4.75 xFIP while knowing that they're mirages. But you run into a bunch of "where are all the experts who said Colabello would decline lol sabemetrics please extend Estrada long term he's awesome" posters who have no idea what they're talking abut and it's so hard not to enjoy the regression. lol honestly its sad if other fans on a message board take away your passion for cheering for a particular team. Every franchise in sports has their good/bad fans.

At RC with the dome closed he is a lot more favourable than on the road in the cold. But if he is pitching well to that point I would start him for one of the home playoff games.

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 BTW this just in Ben Revere is all kinds of ripped . Always thought he would just be a scrawny speedster.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 This seems like a really great idea, and I'd look forward to watching some games like this:

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Didn't they do that in 92/93? After Jack Morris blew game 5 in 1992, the Jays had to clinch on the road so the fans filled the Skydome for game 6 to watch on the jumbotron (some didn't even have an angle to see the screen but just went to be part of the moment. At the time it was a Guiness record for the largest gathering of people for the purpose of watching television. I'm not sure if they ever did it again after that. Game 5 in Philly in 1993 was another potential road clincher so they might have done it but I don't remember that they did. Jays lost so that one is all forgotten now.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Soo I'm still worried about our pitching, guys. That's two straight crap starts for both Buehrle and Dickey. Knuckleballs are fickle things, I just hope that its not mechanical/injury related for Dickey and more like bad luck and knuckleballs doing knuckleball s*** Buehrle, however, is pretty banged up, was on a roll where he was due to regress, and as expected will have to decline sooner or later.

I'm more worried about Buerhle than Dickey. But in fairness, the Rangers absolutely mash LH pitching so it might've just been that.

Yeah not convinced this pitching staff is good enough , Dickey, Buerhle, Estrada are time bombs.

Stro will be back in a couple weeks, Hutch's luck will turn, Dickey will find his groove again, Buehrle is Buehrle and Price is a bonafide ace. Nothing to worry about.
