burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Forgot about Carassco's heart problem. Definitely lowers his long term value.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Not a problem. Just don't have him go to Colorado (heart needs to work harder in higher altitude). Caused problems for Jepsen.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Man - I'm not sure anyone else in baseball passes the "eye" test like Cashner. The man looks dominate every time I see him. He's a major injury risk though.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 http://www.baseballessential.com/news/2015/07/23/source-padres-all-over-blue-jays-farm/ its happenin kids I like Cashner, but he is having a down year so I'm not sure I'm willing to dip into the likes of Norris/Hoffman.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Bye Pompey. Never liked you and never will.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Some guy made a neat chart of lucky/skill pitchers Here's where Carrasco falls: http://i.imgur.com/AskAkdD.png "He’s the 4th best starter 2014-15 in terms of skill (K%, BB%, GB%) and he has been slightly unlucky (BABIP, LOB%) falling just short of being 1 standard deviation worse than the group."
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 If the Blue Jays are making a trade with San Diego. I believe AA would be asking about Upton. AA has been trying to get him since he became GM. Always comes up a little short. If the Blue Jays were to make a trade with the Padres, it could be for anybody. Ross, Cashner, Shields, Benoit, Kimbrel, Upton, they've got a ton of guys that the Jays would be interested in.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Even if anybody cares about this, I'm not sure on the legitimacy, since Calcaterra admits constantly that he's a troll.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 ^ It's on MLBTR, therefore it's legit.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Yeah buck just said that ramirez was dealt to the Pirates... like it's 2003 all over again
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 ^ It's on MLBTR, therefore it's legit. Yeah they posted it after Calcaterra's comment. Although, it was actually broken by this guy. If other people hadn't followed up on the rumor, I'd have assumed Calcaterra was trolling based on his follow up tweet:

Nabru Verified Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Someone help me out here. Were the Blue Jays not in a better place last year leading up to the deadline? I mean a better record than we have now by about 5-6 games and they elected to make a single lateral move. Now it looks like Toronto will be buyers with a .500 team give or take a few games? Can we conclude that AA has some flexibility payroll wise this year unlike last year or was that determined to be crap?

AA said last year there were moves available, but they didnt make sense for the club. Same thing likely to happen this year.
North of 60 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Same s*** will happen as usual. The trade deadline will come and go and the Jays will do nothing. Barry Davis will have an interview with AA and he will say there was dialogue with teams, but not enough to make a deal happen. Then it goes back to the studio and Campbell informs the audience that the non-waiver trade deadline has passed, but deals can still be done through waivers.
Nabru Verified Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Bleh. This team is 49-48. I'd only entertain non-rental acquisitions but then again you still run the risk that what you give up becomes gold and what you receives turns into s***. This is Toronto after all.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I'd move the likes of Boyd and Castro but none of the top tier guys. I would try to make a baseball trade involving Encarnacion if at all possible, but I find a deal there unlikely. Nobody wants Navarro so that makes that. So virtually I do not see anything happening unless its for a pitcher with a longer term.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Rosenthal and Passan speculating on a potential trade between the Nats and the Reds. Nats interested in Chapman, Reds scouting Fedde heavily.
magits Verified Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Forgot about Carassco's heart problem. Definitely lowers his long term value. I'm a doctor. Sounds like Carrasco had atrial flutter or fibrillation that was ablated (most likely flutter), judging by the descriptions he gave as well as the physicians stating the procedure was non invasive. Does not affect his value whatsoever as it is not disabling or life threatening - at least in the short term, unless he also has a very rare complication (wolf-parkinson-white, HOCM) which is very unlikely. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atrial_flutter

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Man I hope the Jays don't get fleeced by the Padres. That GM has been drunk since he got hired.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Ross, Kimbrel and JUpton would be sweet.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Man I hope the Jays don't get fleeced by the Padres. That GM has been drunk since he got hired. Considering the mess AJ Preller has in San Diego, we have a better chance of fleecing him.. most of what he traded has blossomed outside of San Diego.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Ross, Kimbrel and JUpton would be sweet. I'd take Ross. He really needs to get on a better team with at least competent D (they had Middlebrooks playing SS the other day!)
