TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Maybe the Jays get something done today? Also:
jerb Verified Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Jim Bowden @JimBowden_ESPN Royals&Blue Jays are all “in” on Cueto willing to move top prospect for rental, realizing value much higher than Kazmir..both need Game 1 P
LTR Verified Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Cueto? Uggh... selling the farm for 2 months / 8-9 starts... gross
flafson Verified Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Cueto? Uggh... selling the farm for 2 months / 8-9 starts... gross We don't have a pitcher for game 1 though... Might also wake the team up knowing we are going for it.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 If the Jays were to trade Pompey (not that there's any reason to say they would), the Padres could be a fit.
LTR Verified Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 We don't have a pitcher for game 1 though... Might also wake the team up knowing we are going for it. Team looks awake to me... they're just not cutting it.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Cueto? Uggh... selling the farm for 2 months / 8-9 starts... gross AA has no choice. Go for a Cueto and increase your odds of making the playoffs, or hold firm and try to make the playoffs with the current team with very weak pitching. Yes, in the long run it will hurt giving up the prospects but it has been soooooooooooooooooooo long since Toronto has tasted the playoffs I don't think anyone is worried about the long term right now. This team needs to build excitement and the playoff hunt does that. It's a damned if we do, damned if we don't type scenario. AA should have gotten the budget upped in the offseason to have signed Shields but now we are forced to trade prospects because they didn't do that, seems like it happens every year though they are missing pieces they could have gotten in Free Agency lol.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Cueto? Uggh... selling the farm for 2 months / 8-9 starts... gross I've heard....A top prospect...not the farm. If that's Norris get it done asap, before he can plummet any further
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 If you're trading for Cueto you might as well get the wholesale price on Chapman as well. They are more valuable sold separately, but the Reds might be motivated to move both together if they get the guy(s) they want.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I'd be down for a Norris - Cueto straight up. Weren't there health concerns regarding Cueto though? Yes with his forearm, not sure if it is lingered or not. He has had a few great outings and a few not so great recently. Still think it's worth the risk depending on the price
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Don't you think its a safer bet to go with Price?
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I doubt the Tigers sell. They should, but they won't.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Don't you think its a safer bet to go with Price? Price would cost more. I think Cueto gives us the best of both worlds. Great pitcher, but not selling the farm.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Don't you think its a safer bet to go with Price? You think Detroit will do Norris for Price straight up? I would definitely be ok with that. I think Norris has greater aspirations of traveling the world in his van than being a pro ball player.

I don't remember the rules for FA draft picks, but if they keep Price for the rest of the season, they get a pick, right? I guess that is the absolute minimum that they have to ask. Wouldn't hurt for them to ask for more. Like Norris and Pentecost.

They'd be picking at the end of the 1st round...Price has a ridiculous salary as well. The price won't be as steep as you think.

The price won't be as steep as you think. I think we need to throw out the pick ranking and just go with prospect rankings. Norris obviously has a legitimacy as a top prospect but a guy like Pentecost has yet to do anything and seems to be injury prone, so his value is hit a bit. Maybe I'm a bit too low on a guy like Pentecost.

BRB draft him Top 10, sell him a year later for terrible return when he hasn't played a single game.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I don't have a problem giving up guys like Norris or Hoffman if we're getting a high end pitcher with several years of control. Giving up either of those guys for a two month rental would be absolutely retarded though.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Would you give up Norris for Carrasco? How much more are you willing to sacrifice? I'd do it. But honestly I expect the Indians to ask for more. Carrasco has been STELLAR
