Travis was put in to the lead off spot on April 26th. In 63 PA since he's batted .161/.254/.304 with a 55 wRC+.

Prior to the full move, Travis had 66 PA with a slash of .383/.439/.733 with a 233 wRC+

So has the move to the top created added pressure on him to perform thus hitting a slump or have pitchers already adjusted to him?

Or is life really s***** and determined too much by Luck.

What if Devon Travis 2015 = Dalton Pompey 2015

but... Devon started hot by random chance

Dalton started cold by random chance

All things being = they would of both ended the season at .272 .341 .438 with 17 homers (surprisingly pop for the rooks) and tied for Rookie of the year.

But Dalton started cold so he is in Buffalo

Devon started hot so he is allowed to ride out his slump and will find his destiny

Dalton started cold so will miss 1 year

See Delgado, Carlos.. his quest for 500 homeruns was ended at both the beginning and end of his career, at the end because of injuries, at the beginning because of poorly timed slumps.

We are a failure as a species and have let Dalton down

Note I am not claiming Dalton = Devon

Just that we have no reason to think

a) Blue Jays thought Dalton = Devon on April 5th

Changed their minds on April 25th or whatever. Reverse Devon's first 60 at bats and last and he doesn't get to have his the other at bats.

BABIP stabilized on him I'm assuming. Easier to BABIP your way to a good start when you're getting fed fastballs at the bottom of the order as opposed to being pitched to as a leadoff hitter.

Teams made the adjustment. Next step is for Travis to make an adjustment too. I think the kid is great.

Let's be honest. Devon Travis is no Jeff Hoffman.

Thanks Captain Obvious. Short stocky second baseman, is not tall lanky pitcher. Good to know.

Lol I was wondering when someone was going to make this thread. Its like you people have never watched baseball in your lives. Travis was getting lucky at the beginning of the year, and now he is getting unlucky.

I like clarity and have watched only about half the games this month thanks to late late night working.

f***ing moronic nonsense...He was making better, consistent contact before, now is not. Swinging at worse pitches now then before. It's baseball there are ups and downs, it's not all luck.

Maybe you need to watch more baseball. Luck has little to do with it. BABIP is as much an indicator of how good contact you make, it is not all luck.

I recall Bill James simulated thousands of seasons by computer... in a full season guys like Joe Dimaggio and Wade Boggs could hit anywhere between .250 and .400.

Month to month there's even way more variation. Every regular player has months where they hit .180 months where they hit .400

99.9% coincidence

Travis would be a good #2 hitter if Martin isn't available. Other than that, he should be towards the bottom of the order.

Well in the last 14 days Travis has a BB rate of 12.2% K rate of 18.4% and ISO of .116% with a BABIP of .152%. With a regular BABIP those numbers would be pretty good so if this is what a "slump" is I'll take it. Hes probably a little banged up so not surprising to see his power go down a little.

Im not worried about him.
