So it is passion in their own way?

One of my worst sentences ever. Public shaming appropriate.

once you come out of the off topic section, where all the stats peeps hang out, you get into the heart and emotion section of the forum. There are a lot of people who are just as valid fans of baseball and the jays, but have no idea what metrics are.

DON'T argue stats with people who don't know anything about them. Just let them have their heart and passion for baseball in their way.

arguing doesn't help anyone.

ps. you know a thread like this is going to be a s*** storm so maybe dont come back after you make your case and state the facts. You KNOW it's only going to piss you off. Bickering doesn't help anyone and only empowers the people who are not even fans, that are just here to troll and we all know there are lots of those.

Wow...this is just dumn. Nox isn't in any of our leagues, by the way. He's just, you know, talking about baseball and there metrics. Jesus Christ Gustapo, relax???

I watched him pitch a lot yesterday and he is good. The most galling part was when the NY Mets commentators described him as an "untouchable" in any trade and previously when they called the Dickey trade "the greatest in Mets history, turning one year of Cy Young Dickey into d'Arnaud, Syndergaard and Becerra."

That's as near as I can paraphrase it, but even taking into account their obvious homerism ouch.

Guys, the Dickey trade was all Beeston. Trust me on this one.

Is there a source that can verify this claim or are you just blowing hot steam again?

I can't say anything else except AA wasn't interested in trading any of his "blue chip keepers" at that time. The Miami trade he was in on, NYM deal was all Beeston. AA's arms were tied given the fact that Beeston just got AA the team salary increase approval. AA had no choice but to bend over on that one.

So hot steam it is then...

I guess it is.

"We have the best house on the nicest block in the best part of town," Anthopoulos said metaphorically about the franchise he has been entrusted to operate. Ownership has given the president complete autonomy, and Paul Beeston has given me complete autonomy. I don't know of another franchise in baseball that operates this way."

These unsubstantiated speculations and excuses are just your sad attempt at holding on to the false belief that the GM you have so much faith in isn't a complete f***ing goof. Well, this is the same guy that viewed JPA as the catcher of the future and Ryan Goins as a potential "star" who was worthy of being handed the full time 2B job. He also had no problem labelling Dickey the "ace" of his staff... so who's to say he wasn't directly responsible?

He might be doing something's right but putting a winning roster together clearly isn't one Of them. The guy is on his 6th year on the job and the third year since declaring the team "all in" and has managed to assemble a roster that has more holes in it than Swiss cheese. If you're content with that, then keep rolling with the false rationalizations I guess, but sooner or later you'll have to face up to the reality...

First off, i'm not f***ing content with the team's current make up. Secondly, what do you expect him to say about his players? That they are just bridges until we acquire a solid long term option? The whole front office is a cluster f***. AA has his strengths and weaknesses, not acknowledging the need for one or two dependable arms was a mistake. Also don't believe everything you read regarding the complete autonomy.

Then don't speculate and make excuses (and act like it's a fact) for the f*** ups that have put the team in this position in the first place.

Secondly, what do you expect him to say about his players? That they are just bridges until we acquire a solid long term option?

What? What do I want him to say? I don't want him to say s***, I want him to take some action! The team was all in FFS and they had plenty of time to improve the catching spot in 2013 and 2B spot in 2013 and 2014. His incompetence to fill those voids had nothing to do with "bridges" and everything to do with incompetence! But keep making those excuses if it makes you feel better...

Yet, when AA f***s up, it must be someone else's fault.

I don't want to make it sound like AA is the only problem, but he's been hired by the same clown that put a lot of this cluster f*** together in the first place. It's pretty foolish to dismiss the results of this FO's moves and simply assume that AA not a part of the problem.

Maxing out the approved salary increase in one off season was really f***ing stupid, now AA'S hands are tied.

I'm not sure about the Dickey Trade. It's KNOWN f***ing knowledge that AA was calling Beeston during the Marlins trade. Beeston was taking calls regarding the trade in a critical f***ing Loblaws board meeting where they were deciding the future of the decadent cookie. On the other line he was guiding AA throught the Marlins trade. Track Team! Reyes. Another fast guy with fancy name!

AA has downplayed Beeston's role in the Marlins trade, but as if!

If your boss give you autonomy YOU DON'T f***ING CALL HIM DURING THE f***ING LOBLAWS BOARD MEETING. Your boss trusts you, and wants to concentrate on the great issues facing the decadent cookie.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AUTONOMY YOU MUST UPDATE YOUR BOSS EVEN AS HE IS AT THE LOBLAWS BOARD MEETING.

I'm not sure what you're going on about, nor from where you're getting your information, but the Davidi book talked about the trade, and the events leading up to it, and clearly had AA as the architect and primary driver of that trade, with Beeston only giving sign-off on the deal, from a monetary perspective, after consulting with his boss, and that meeting between Beeston and their boss was at AA's request. Now perhaps that was a story fed to him (Davidi), and it was made up, or perhaps Davidi concocted himself to stay in the good graces of the organization ... but I haven't seen reliable information contradicting this story, and it passes the sniff test. Was Beeston excited that AA was bringing in big name guys? Sure, it appears so. But did Beeston drive the trade boat in any way? Not from that narrative.

It says in Davidi's book that Beeston was anxiously awaiting updates while attending the Loblaws board meeting. That is a known fact.

All I am saying is this: I have worked in a coorporate environment. If you have full autonomy your boss trusts you and will not be asking for constant updates. Nor will you be giving your boss constant updates, especially when they are in very important board meetings, such as the Loblaws board meeting.

It's only when you do __NOT__ have full autonomy that you have to ping your boss during the Loblaws board meeting.

I want to draw on my own experience in coorporate (North) America. I have sinced been kicked out of that environment due to poor attitude and spelling, but I was there once.

In one situation my boss trusted me. He had to go the Future shop board meetings, and he said 'I trust you, you have full autonomy, I have to go to the Future shop board meeting. It is a very important board meeting. We will be deciding the future of Future Shop. If any decisions have to be made while I am there, make them. Don't bother me. I cannot be bothered. I have to concentrate on Future Shop."

In a different situation my boss did not trust me and I did not have full autonomy, and he said "I have to be at the Mark's Work Warehouse board meeting. It is a very important meeting. However you also need to keep me up to date on what you are doing. I hate to have my attention divided, but you must let me know what is happening. You do not have full autonomy"
