nmrch Verified Member Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 So what you're saying is that the fact that Osuna is younger is a viable argument for taking him over Syndergaard for the next five years, or in five years, or whatever the question is? All i said originally and now was that its not an insane comparison, not that i'd take Osuna over Syndergaard.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 All i said originally and now was that its not an insane comparison. ok, that's objectively wrong though
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 I see dumb people. Stop looking at the mirror so much
nmrch Verified Member Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 ok, that's objectively wrong though A 20 year old who had a good season as a reliever and a 23 year old who had a good season as starter. Yeah it's so crazy compare them. I would take Syndergaard right now obviously but that's not how I'm comparing them. Osuna has 2.5 years to get to that level, he might not get there but what he did as a 20 year old is kind of a big deal and it's sad that even Jays fans have no idea.

No, you're just confusing points. It isn't a slight to Osuna to say that there is no viable argument to taking him over Syndergaard. I love Osuna. He is fantastic and special. But there's still no argument to be made for taking him over Syndergaard. Nothing. And of course it's crazy to compare them. Syndergaard projects as a top 15/20 SP in baseball... Osuna would project to be maybe Toronto's 2nd best RP and maybe a top 60 reliever in baseball (generous - Steamer doesn't think so). Do you understand the chasm there? It's massive

It's massive I'm not confusing anything. I'm just not comparing them at the present moment, and its stupid to do so given how massive a 2.5 year age difference is in baseball. Sydnergaard spent his age 20 season dominating in high A and double AA, Osuna spent his age 20 season getting big league hitters out and was pretty good at it. Those are comparable achievements, or at least they're not ridiculously incomparable achievements, so you're being argumentative for no reason. Its possible(and probably likely) that Osuna's age 23 achievements won't be as good as Syndergaard's but we'll have to wait to find out And i don't know why you keep lecturing me on how good Syndergaard is and how much better he is then Osuna right now when i just said he would be a perennial Cy Young candidate and that i would obviously take him over Osuna right now.
