AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I know it's a bit early but say a month from now they're still spinning their tires like they are now. The pitching appears to be coming. I'm thinking the Jays should start considering trading both of these guys with the target of good young position players. What teams would be a match?
King Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Bautista + EE for Urias + Seager + Pederson
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Bautista + EE for Urias + Seager + Pederson And only have to make room for one of them on the 40 man!
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 An injury to Werth or Harper could have the Nats calling.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 trade them both. do it. To who and for who?
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Why do you have to do it now, This season, but not now. Wait till June and July. Yes by then if things are just as bad then the following should be liquidated Bautista Encarnacion Dickey Burly.
AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 Bautista + EE for Urias + Seager + Pederson Where would E5 play in LA?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I would look to trade EE before the start of next season anyway. He has a ton of value because of the HR totals and low contract which should get a solid return. I don't think he is going to age well with his injury history and he has no position value. Need to maximize his value. The way the Blue Jays have started off the season doesn't impact my thinking towards this stance though.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Bautista + EE for Urias + Seager + Pederson If Farhan Zaidi And Friedman offer that I would do it.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 If Farhan Zaidi And Friedman offer that I would do it. Yup. Gives us another top of the rotation type arm, replaces Bautista in the OF and gives us a replacement for Reyes at SS. I doubt it gets offered tho with no place for Edwin to play, and no real CF to replace Pederson in LA.
Governator Community Moderator Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 An injury to Werth or Harper could have the Nats calling. Best case scenario imo. Lets go Harper. Break a leg buddy!

Governator Community Moderator Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 If the Angels planned to have Hamilton playing, would they have a need?
King Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 We'll be buyers even if we suck, AAs job is on the line
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I'm just salivating at the thought of what those two will bring back. I don't think we can go in a full rebuild like the Braves, but a partial one that 'resets' the club. But we're going to need another offensive bat to protect Donaldson. Reyes, Bautista and Encarnacion will all leave, and I'm not comfortable just having Donaldson as a threat.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Hope we trade Bautista this season

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Hope we trade Bautista this season Yeah I know. Lets quickly trade the guy who had a 6+ WAR season last year, and is on pace to the same this year.
mtljaysfan Verified Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I would love to trade Reyes for a C prospect in return lol

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Bautista + EE for Urias + Seager + Pederson This isn't MLB 2015. Leaves LA with no CFer and EE or Gonzo as a bench bat. Obviously from the Jays perspective, that would be an awesome return....I mean how amazing would it to have any one of those 3? But it's just not happening. Dodgers need pitching with Ryu and McCarthy hurt (just like AA, the Zaidi is a piss poor GM who didn't sign multiple stud veteran FA pitchers to serve as their 6th and 7th starter).

glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I'm down for trading those two and building around Donaldson. You have to know when to cut bait, and it's getting close to that time with those two, especially if the team is not succeeding with them and the GM has no idea how to add capable pitching to win with them. Between Bautista, Edwin, Buehrle, Dickey, Cecil, and Saunders, can they get enough back to contend in 2016? I only mention Saunders and Cecil because they are free agents after 2016 as well, and not long term pieces.
Praxis Verified Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 just like AA, the Zaidi is a piss poor GM who didn't sign multiple stud veteran FA pitchers to serve as their 6th and 7th starter It was clear to anybody in the offseason that our SP was inadequate. Even with Stroman (who is not yet a proven major league article) we were still relying on a 40 year old declining junkballer, an innings eater on the verge of retirement, Hutchinson and at least one of Norris/Sanchez/Estrada. It did not take a genius to figure out we were woefully short in SP and there were mulitple options out there for signing such as Scherzer, Lester, Shields, Santana, McCarthy, Miller, Robertson, Hammel, Masterson etc. etc.

This lineup needs to be rebuilt to match the projected peak of the Stroman, Norris, Hoffman. By the time the pitching is good enough to contend Bautista and Encarnacion will be on the way out or gone.

Im as worried about our pen and rotation as anyone (since before the season started) but with our offense this is way too early. No rush. Our rotation is capable of better and both Edwin and Jose (hurt) are off to relatively slow starts I don't think will last. Edwin still looks like his legs and/or back isn't quite right. Im not seeing a lot of moves for arms that wont cost us a fortune but Im sure AA is looking. Lets see if we can hang in or if their value goes up as the season moves on.
