Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Lol @ ppl blaming Dickey for last night for a quality start We scored 1 run...that lost the game
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Gotta give credit when it's due. Odorizzi was good. He kept hitting the outside corner. You could make the argument that the players should have went the other way like Pillar/Travis did, but I guess the sluggers really wanted to put on a show and launch some homers. Hopefully with less people tonight (I'm expecting 20k ish), they will relax and do what they did in Baltimore.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Lol @ ppl blaming Dickey for last night for a quality start He was alright, but 5 walks is unacceptable. Rays could have easily scored 5 or more runs. But yes, we can't expect to win with 1 run. Jays had several opportunities to score and came up flat.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) I don't think anyone is blaming Dickey obviously. No one hit last night. The meat of the lineup isn't hitting yet, and Martin is off to a really really slow start. I think we should get used to Martin not hitting. New league, new team and a track record that suggests he's more of a .230/.320/.400 hitter. I fully expect him to be borderline awful at the plate this year and think we'll see improvements next year... Thank god Gibby pulled the plug on him hitting 2nd quickly....I never understood how they thought that was a good fit. Now if only Gibby was smart enough to get Pompey out of the 2 hole. Yeah I'm preparing myself for another .200 year for Martin. He has not looked good at all in the plate
5minutesforframing Verified Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Flames have like 6 top 100 players. Gaudreau, Monahan, Hudler, Giordano, Brodie, Backlund. And then a bunch of s***** guys + Sam Bennett. Hudler, Brodie, and Backlund are not top 100 players.
5minutesforframing Verified Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Advanced metrics suggest they are. They possibly were this season, one season does not make a player a top 100 player in the game. Also, Backlund had like 30 points maximum. You're claiming these guys would rank essentially in the top 3 players on any team in the league. It's a stretch brother. Anyways I'll keep the hockey talk for a different board, go Jays!
Governator Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Lol @ ppl blaming Dickey for last night for a quality start The Jays were the only team that drove in a run last night and quality starts should be a given when facing the Rays. Dickey was out pitched and loss the game.
polar bear Verified Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Yeah I'm preparing myself for another .200 year for Martin. He has not looked good at all in the plate His catching looks kind of sub par so far also.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 f*** hockey In this case, yes, there's an NHL thread in the OT Forum.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Starting Bautista caused Edwin to swing at ball 4 Zee/Dogg logic. *sighs*
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 If this is accurate at all, Martin has actually been poor with the framing so far, which is surprising because he looked excellent yesterday. Maybe yesterday's numbers haven't been counted yet. http://www.statcorner.com/CatcherReport.php
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 The Jays were the only team that drove in a run last night and quality starts should be a given when facing the Rays. Dickey was out pitched and loss the game. Too many free passes in that one inning, but he still pitched well enough for the Jays to win, Odirizzi and are bats resulted in that loss. Fingers can be pointed at many different things that occured last night. s*** happens, we'll take this series...
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Is that the KingKat himself?? KingKat died on Valentine's Day last year. That's a new cat.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 s***, sorry. Nice new cat tho. Yes KK Jr. LOL She's cute. My current avatar is her face superimposed on Matt West's old photo with a Jays logo replacing the Rangers' T. You can see some of West's golden locks flowing around her.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Wait we are talking Kat's now! FML . Lol

Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 was it just me or did Odirozzi pitch like greg maddux. rarely threw an actual strike and always stayed on the edges (ump gave him quite a few)
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 was it just me or did Odirozzi pitch like greg maddux. rarely threw an actual strike and always stayed on the edges (ump gave him quite a few) Yes he settled down after the first inning. He was up in the 1st inning but the rest of the way he was painting the outside corner. Only Kevin Pillar and Travis successfully went the other way. Everyone else just hit weak pop ups because they're trying to do too much.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I agree. If the Jays scored 5 runs and won 5-2 we would be lauding Dickey for another quality start. No doubt, mate. People still pull their hair out when he pitches, talking about command, this has been going on for 3 years, it's a freaking knuckleball, no one knows where it's going including R.A.... I for one love the innings and results, at his price, lots of value.

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Thanks, Captain Obvious. No need to thank me as i did nothing to help you..... Haha
