The righty was 2-1 with a 3.15 ERA over his final three starts against the Rays last season. The Blue Jays will be celebrating their home opener for their 39th season. Based on the Rays' history, the Blue Jays have the perfect guest at the Rogers Centre since the Rays are 2-11 as the opponent for a team's home opener. The Rays and Blue Jays met 16 times during Spring Training and will play each other seven times in the first month of the season, making the teams more than familiar with one another. A series of pregame festivities will help Blue Jays fans enjoy the occasion. Carlos Delgado and George Bell will be on hand to present Jose Bautista with his 2014 Silver Slugger Award. Commissioner Rob Manfred will throw out the ceremonial first pitch alongside nine-year-old Ben Sheppard, and 250 members of the Canadian Armed Forces will carry the Canadian flag during the national anthem. Rays: Odorizzi gave his depleted club a boost with a 2-0 win over Baltimore on Wednesday. The right-hander yielded two hits and walked none in Kevin Cash's first victory as a major league manager while striking out seven. Odorizzi led all rookies with 174 strikeouts in 2014 while going 11-13 with a 4.13 ERA in 31 starts. Odorizzi is 1-0 with a 2.37 ERA in three career starts against Toronto and has 16 strikeouts in 19 innings with three walks. The Rays head to Toronto after taking two of three in Miami. They batted .275 and plated 19 runs in that series after hitting .202 and scoring nine runs against Baltimore. Asdrubal Cabrera, batting .355 in his last eight games against Toronto, is 4 for 9 with two homers lifetime versus Dickey. Kevin Kiermaier, hitting .361 in 13 career matchups with the Blue Jays, is 1 for 7 against the knuckleballer. ScientificReason Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Wow, the Rays are awful.... I know their SP's are ok but that's a 70 win lineup They will find a way to be a thorn in our side.
crmr Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 They will find a way to be a thorn in our side. Possibly, I just meant generally. To be honest, though, I don't see this team able to give the Jays much trouble (remember the history of trouble with the Rays when they were bad was in part because the Jays were also bad)
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Lets Go Blue Jays!!!!!!!!!
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Turf looks a lot greener. Apparently its really slow. Could be good for someone like Sanchez who gets a lot of GBs (1st game not withstanding) but the rest of the Jays staff is mostly flyball pitchers.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 It would be really nice if they can get a big win in front of the fans. hoping for a really exciting ass kicking of the rays. I dont want it to be close at all. score a s*** load of runs all game long and we can all have a good chuckle about it after the game.

It's not as bouncy as last year. #Bluejays #PrimeTimeSports Should be interesting to see how this plays out. Also, wonder how the new grass will look on TV.

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Is the turf better on the knees? That's all that really matters.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Is the turf better on the knees? That's all that really matters. if its as spongy as it says it might make player's legs more sore. Its like running through sand as Tori Hunter would say. Would make dives on the turf easier on the body though.
Governator Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 The upclose pics a month or two back had the turf looking long and very thick. [insert dick joke]. I could see it being very slow.
