Rajais Mitten Verified Member Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Are you still babbling on about Sanchez being a better pitcher than Syndergaard lol Well I mean Sanchez has a lower ERA that's how it works right...lol
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Unless we enter 2016 with a stacked rotation, you give him the chance to establish himself as at the very least a serviceable 4/5. Osuna is the bigger conundrum now methinks when it comes to this particular issue. Still, it's a good problem to have. I think Osuna should definitely be given a chance. The fastball is legit, but the slider and change are both plus pitches this year, and he uses both >10% of the time. That's a starter's repertoire.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Are you still babbling on about Sanchez being a better pitcher than Syndergaard lol Wait, the guy who said Sanchez > Syndergaard and the guy who said Hoffman > McCutchen are the same guy?
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 They're going to try Sanchez as a starter next year again aren't they?

Im not sure the arm would hold up over a full season with his arm action and do you want to take that chance with a guy who's already had TJS? He's an elite reliever might just want to keep him there.

reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Wait, the guy who said Sanchez > Syndergaard and the guy who said Hoffman > McCutchen are the same guy? Ok nobody can seriously say that. If he did say that he should probably be put on ignore.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Ok nobody can seriously say that. If he did say that he should probably be put on ignore. Well, he said he wouldn't trade Hoffman for McCutchen.

But then who closes?! ;-) 2016 1 2 3 Hutchison 4 Osuna 5 Sanchez Lots of changes on the pitching side to come in the next few months. Personally I'd be tempted to give Price a 6/180 in this situation, with both Muehrle and Dickey looking set to leave and the ~$30M that would free up, plus all the little fish like Romero, Estrada, Izturis and Navarro coming off the books.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Well, he said he wouldn't trade Hoffman for McCutchen. Yikes. Could just be a racist, that's the only sensible explanation.

I think they keep Dickey. It'd be nice if they sign someone like Samardzija, shouldn't get a huge contract after this season and he is a safe investment IMO.

Yeah could see Dickey being retained, need to sign at least 1 FA the off season though. The offense should be great again next year.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Osuna hasn't had TJS yes he did also, jays have groomed Sanchez to be a starter. he had some very promising starts this year. it's 100% guaranteed he starts games in 2016
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Didn't Osuna tear his labrum and rehab it No, I'm not going to google this

Marcus Stroman is decent.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 1. 2. Stroman 3. Dickey 4. Hutchison 5. Osuna
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Converting good relievers to starters always works out. Just look at Daniel Bard and Neftali Feliz, flawless transitions.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 adam waignwright...the list goes on and on Adam Wainwright made 135 starts in the minors...and he was quite good.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 osuna is good too and can make the transition because he has 3 pitches He has the stuff, but does he have the durability....
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 He has the stuff, but does he have the durability.... I lost my crystal ball, and my magic 8 ball is on the fritz so I can't really answer that one, but how often does a guy with the stuff not get a shot. Durability and longevity are a crapshoot.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Waino/Osuna is a much, much better comp than Waino/Sanchez.
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 osuna is good too and can make the transition because he has 3 pitches I could definitely be mistaken but I thought Org was referring to Sanchez and not Osuna.
