LTR Verified Member Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Quite the start for McGowan. K's the first two batters, gets ahead of the next two, Stanton reaches on error and gets thrown out trying to steal.
LTR Verified Member Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Anthony Gose continues to defy the laws of BABIP. Doubles off Tanaka to lead off the game.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Scott Boras has finally lost his s***. Scott Boras wants a panel of experts to decide when a prospect is ready
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 If the Brewers continue to struggle do you think it is worth taking a shot at Lohse... He is not as bad as he has looked in the first couple weeks of the season.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Scott Boras has finally lost his s***. Scott Boras wants a panel of experts to decide when a prospect is ready Lol. More like "Scott Boras wants more money"
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Scott Boras has no shame. He'll say absolutely anything if he thinks it can gain him some kind of leverage.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Scott Boras has no shame. He'll say absolutely anything if he thinks it can gain him some kind of leverage. "For example, I would say that the union or somebody may come in and say that they’ve made a claim that this player is major-league ready,” Boras said. “And that to place him in the minor leagues would not be appropriate from a skills standpoint. And then all of a sudden, it’s subject to review by a panel of former managers or baseball experts." Saying things like the above quote shouldn't help him get leverage -- it should cost him leverage, on account of him coming off like a f***ing nut. I don't know how this guy still has any credibility in baseball.

flafson Verified Member Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Why does he even bother? Isn't he like a billionaire by now? Probably like 30% of the league give him money.

bendera3 Verified Member Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Bernie Williams is getting his number retired. I mean he was a pretty good player but retired number good?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Bernie Williams is getting his number retired. I mean he was a pretty good player but retired number good? Retired numbers are the perfect way to honour players who were part of the team identity for a long time but are not HOFers. I don't have a problem with it and I wish the Jays would do the same for some of their greats like Dave Stieb.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Scott Boras has no shame. He'll say absolutely anything if he thinks it can gain him some kind of leverage. I don't think the union would accept that as it would basically be a non-union player possibly kicking an union player off the roster.

He's just saying anything to keep this issue in the media so that it changes eventually. He knows this isn't the answer.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Yes. He'd seem like a no-doubter for any team but the Yankees and deserves this. 43.9 WAR all with the Yankees and a key player in four championship runs. I think I heard Posada was getting his retired too. He had just over 44 WAR for his career, so would be equally deserving. They were joking the Yanks will have to go to triple digits soon. I agree it's only questioned b/c it's the Yanks and they have so many retired already. Interesting to see Bernie Williams when from having 6 straight years of 4.8 - 5.1 WAR (amazing consistency) straight to 4 straight years below replacement level to finish off his career.....those 4 years were driven by awful defense in CF when he obviously should have been moved there - but that's still a crazy drop off.

bendera3 Verified Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I know you already have 4 outfielders on your roster, but the panel says my prospect is ready, so you've got to promote him! It would cause so much of a roster imbalance it would be unreal. Tampa Bay would be all pitchers.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Lawrie is a snitch. Here is what Lawrie said: “I talked to Albert Pujols at first base. This guy has been in the game forever, he’s one of the best players in the game. And for him to say that, ‘Hey man, you’re playing the game hard.’ And for them (the Royals) to do that, it’s bush league stuff. ”

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Joe Nathan, torn UCL and tendon. Season ending, and probably his career is done. One of the more underrated closers for a period. Underrated, I don't think so. He'll retire after he gets paid.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 While they brawl in the Chicago/KC game, Farrell just threw another game away, as the Rays' Rene Rivera hits a walkoff single off Anthony Varvaro to give the Rays a 2-1 win. Boston's offense is REALLY struggling right now.. Ortiz is hitting under .200, as is Betts and Napoli. Even Bogaerts is slowing down after his hot start (his BABIP shows that a regression back to the .250-.270 level is coming, which Boston cannot afford right now, as everybody not named Sandoval or Pedroia are really struggling.
