I think I saw an article a few days ago that was saying that Sandy was the real innovator of moneyball or some s***. I don't remember, I didn't read it.

Alderson intuited that the Earl Weaver school of thought was the right formula for winning baseball and he found the statistical proof to back it up. He was the architect of the great A's teams of the late 1980s who emphasized power and OBP and he basically paved the way for the modern baseball era. Of course, in hindsight we now know that a lot of that power was fueled by steroids but I doubt the front office played any kind of direct role in that beyond valuing power. When Billy Beane joined the A's front office he didn't start a revolution as the common narrative goes. He merely continued down a path that had already been set by Alderson.

If that's true why have the mets been garbage for so long

Well, for one Sandy Alderson has only been on the job for 4 years.

as a guy that's jerked off to his minor league games...I'll just leave this topic now. Actually his brother's nickname was Little d. Which is funny cause it turns out he had little bat too.

For some reason it's hilarious to me, but not even a bit surprising, that TwistedLogic edits player wikipedia pages. TwistedLogic: man of intrigue.

d'Arnaud was probably the first wiki page I've ever edited, because a) it bothered me that a guy with as many minor league accomplishments as him didn't have a page, and B) he was called "Travis D' Arnaud"

I probably also cleaned up a lot of the Bautista page and added a bunch of his accomplishments, like the Player of the Month awards. Other than that, I don't know if I've done any edits on anyone else.

I'm not some freak that spends all day nitpicking flaws in wikipedia pages

Dickey trade wasn't needed to avoid losing 90-100 games. I literally hit the roof when the trade was made.

It is very likely this will be the worst Blue Jays trade ever.

I think most would agree that the Dickey trade doesn't happen without the Marlins trade having been made. Once they blew their budget in the Marlins trade, Dickey became more attractive given his low salary demands.

d'Arnaud is obviously incredibly talented. Hopefully he can stay healthy enough to stay at catcher because he isn't nearly as valuable elsewhere on the field.

If you want a wikipedia page to invoke fear, pity and embarrassment in you all at once, while also making you cringe, check out Carson Cistulli's page.

Hey, I will not sit idly by while you cast aspersions on the ambassador to crunk in the western hemisphere!

This thread Depaired me, why can't we have nice things? Instead I got a Dickey who's knuckeballs are wrapped around me doing nothing for me except making me want to choke my Thole and kill him! FML, lol

If the Jays make the playoffs and/or win a World Series with Dickey in the rotation, then the three players we gave up could be HOF'ers and I'd get over it.

You have 1 (maybe 2) more years, R.A. Don't let us down.

Edit: but the trade itself was bad. No question. That package the year before could have gotten Latos or Gio, possibly.

I hate that logic. Team success in a given season isn't automatic justification for the acquisition of every player on the roster.

They made moves to win over a 3-5 year period. How do you expect people to judge these trades?

A bad trade is a bad trade but one that helps an overall goal is better than nothing. Cone for Kent is one of the worst trades ever, we just don't harp on it because it accomplished the desired result.

I like Carson Cistulli.

I do too, but I used to like him a lot more before I found out about his creepy wikipedia page.

Probably a wash between Sullivan and Blengino as my favorite guys from FanGraphs. Probably lean a bit more towards Sullivan because of quantity and the homer angle; large amount of Jays-related pieces there are written by him.

It's not like he wrote the page though.

It's very obvious that it's been written with a conflict of interest, to the point where it looks like it had to have been written by either himself or his wife.

I can't imagine anybody else cares about Carson Cistulli to that level.

Anyone I've seen speculate on it seems to think it's been written by his wife, and if that's the case (even if it isn't) he's clearly conscious of it.

Guy has a rabid following. A world-class poet and an original thinker.

I don't see what's so bad about that wiki page, it's humorous. If that was done by him or someone close to him then it was probably as a joke.
