MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 ceiling is the best pitcher in the league you could say
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Quality programming right there. But in all seriousness, it's a trend many channels are following in order to stay relevant. I understand it from a ratings point of view but it's kind of hilarious when a channel labelled as "History" continues to pump out garbage all under the guise of still being educational. The channel was bad enough when it was just 24/7 Hitler but this wave of reality shows really destroyed any shred of respect it still had.
admin Site Manager Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Zobrist would make this lineup amazing. Trade and extend him three years.
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Sure I guess, but then you'd also have to say Daniel Norris' ceiling is Clayton Kershaw. Exactly
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Exactly his point is that thinking isn't realistic.........
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 In my MLB the Show franchise, I simulated the 2016 season and Aaron Sanchez went 11-12 with a 2.56 ERA and 272 K's!!! MunenoriKawasakiMVP loves that!

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Why are people talking baseball in the TV show thread? Weird. Can we start getting bans for people who are partaking in baseball discussion. It's getting ridiculous. I don't come to the BJMB to discuss such silly baseball matters.
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 But it's not a realistic thinking that Norris and Sanchez mediocre in the bullpen
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Floor is Kyle Drabek. Sanchez can most definitely end up as a Kyle Drabek in the rotation. His BB/9 rates in the minors scare me and him pitching 2-3 times through a lineup, don't think his stuff will hold up especially with a low rate of inducing swinging strikes. I'd trade him now while his market value remains relativity decent.
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 But he could also end up like a prime Justin Verlander or Adam Wainwright
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 I'll be very interested to see how AA handles Sanchez. In 2011 - Sanchez was his "top" prospect in the organization (despite coming off an a poor statistical year). I heard it from the horses mouth. He loves this kid. Will he fall into the GM man-crush zone where they can't let go of what they thought he'd be (if he doesn't succeed initially)? or will he be able to re-evaluate his development properly and do what's best for the team. It's this type of thing that helps truly define a good GM.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Jesus - the 2016 lineup must be awful!!!! Team went 84-78 and missed the postseason by 3 games lol. I signed David Price and Shark during the offseason to huge contracts as well. SS Reyes CF AJ Pollock RF Bautista 1B Encarnacion 3B Donaldson DH Martinez (likely will retire once I enter the offseason) C Martin LF Saunders (really sucked lol) 2B Travis (awful rookie year haha) SP David Price SP Jeff Samardzja SP Drew Hutchison SP Aaron Sanchez SP Marcus Stroman LR Jesse Chavez LR Tyoshi Wada MR Adam Ottovino MR Aaron Loup SU Brett Cecil SU Mike Adams CL Antonio Bastardo

GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Would anyone here part with Norris + if it was for Zobrist with a 2-3 year extension attached?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 But it's not a realistic thinking that Norris and Sanchez mediocre in the bullpen It's much more realistic to think that every prospect will crash and burn than that they will all reach their full potential.

It's this type of thing that helps truly define a good GM. Trading away Lawrie gives me more confidence that AA is willing to do what's right for the team even if it takes trading away a player he was high on. Whether the return is fair is a different issue, but personally I don't think we should be as worried about him being attached to certain players.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Would anyone here part with Norris + if it was for Zobrist with a 2-3 year extension attached? You'd have to be fairly certain Zobrist is going to age gracefully. To be honest, I'd want him here this coming year and possibly the next - nothing beyond that.

Would anyone here part with Norris + if it was for Zobrist with a 2-3 year extension attached? Nope, not Norris. Sanchez, probably...
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 AA has traded Syndergaard, Lawrie, d'Arnaud, etc. I'm sure he would trade Sanchez if he felt the return was worthy. Whether he would do it for a one year rental is another story. He seems like a GM who is big on years of control, so I can't see him trading Sanchez for Zobrist (even though it would be a great deal for the Jays).
JaysRap Verified Member Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Some Jays talk from 2 chats: MLB Trade Rumors and Fangraphs. Steve Adams, MLBTR: Comment From Ryan Will zobrist be traded now or will tampa move him back to rf? via·about 7 hours ago Steve Adams I'd think Zobrist is more available now than he was before. Giants could use him in left and as insurance if Panik regresses too heavily.Jays could use him at second. He'll be a huge commodity if they get serious about moving him. I'd lean toward them trading him if I had to guess. Comment From Fred How many relievers does Preller need? is he loading up for even bigger deals? via·about 7 hours ago Steve Adams Perhaps, but there's nothing wrong with having a stacked bullpen. He could always add a bunch of cheaper arms and deal Benoit to a team looking for a closer (e.g. Toronto) Comment From torontojeff inter-divisional trading aside, what would Jays need to pay to land 2 years of Zobrist and a pick if he leaves? via·about 7 hours ago Steve Adams Zobrist is a free agent next winter. This is his final year of control. And he'd still cost them one of their top arms, I'd imagine. Then again, I'd have said no way the Padres could get Myers without dealing one of their top three prospects and they managed to pull that off. Comment From Daveek42 Where do you see Dionner Navarro at the start of the season and what (if any) do you see the Jays getting in return? via·about 7 hours ago Steve Adams He'd be a nice upgrade for the White Sox over Flowers, who shouldn't be a starting catcher on any team. Blue Jays should be able to land one solid, B-level prospect for him. Not a Top 100 style guy but someone who could slot into their Top 10 prospects or so. Could also just flip him to a team with a need at catcher for one year of a good but expensive reliever to put at the back of their bullpen. Comment From Ari Krigel Do you expect the Royals to trade Holland (or Davis/Herrera)? Holland is great, but at $9.5mm, could the Royals find a team with a great prospect (or prospects) and the ability to take on the salary? via·about 6 hours ago Steve Adams I don't expect them to, but I think they should. If the Blue Jays want to add a closer, Holland is the best target they could go after, and he'd be a massive upgrade at the back of that 'pen. And Toronto has a nice group of pitching prospects. via·about 6 hours ago Steve Adams Jays could also offer to take some of Infante's salary to lessen the prospect return they'd need to give. Dan Szymborski, Fangraphs Chat Comment From Mike Where does Asdrubal Cabrera end up? 12:42 Dan Szymborski: If he doesn’t end up in Toronto, Jays fans should be annoyed. Dan Szymborski: (Unless of course, the Blue Jays come up with someone better) Comment From The Dude Should Jays fans really be annoyed if they don’t sign Cabrera? It’s not like he’s very good. 1:10 Dan Szymborski: He can be a solidly average 2B overall. That’s a massive upgrade for them. Comment From Dustin Buster Olney, in a blog post a few weeks ago, mentioned that the Orioles should really shoot for the stars with Toronto with regards to compensation for Dan Duquette… And he mentioned Strohman, among some other possibilities. Obviously this is not the precedent that has been set, but couldn’t it be argued that a really great GM/President (which it appears clear that Toronto is valuing Duquette as) would be FAR more valuable than any player, making this a realistic thing for Baltimore to look for? I know this sounds crazy. BUT WHAT IF IT’S BRILLIANT. 1:23 Dan Szymborski: I would not trade Stroman for Duquette. If Blue Jays actually offered this, I’d be driving over to Baltimore to help DD pack his bags myself.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Holland + Infante for a B-level prospect would be great. Infante is still good. BABIP was down and so was HR/FB%. SwStr% was improved. Contact was up. 7.5, 7.5, 8 for Infante is pretty reasonable when Stephen Drew could make $8M this year.
