I can't stand Charlie Day - the guy is so annoying.

Best comedy on TV was Curb (hopefully they make a new season soon!). As for currently, I'd say South Park and Archer even though they are cartoons!

You're probably a fan of Big Bang Theory aren't you?

The writing/comedic delivery of the actors in It's Always Sunny is pretty much impeccable. Some of the newer episodes suck but most are classic.

Watch the episode where they throw their own wrestling show and tell me that isn't classic tv.

That episode is some of the funniest tv I've ever seen.

It's a garbage thread based on a non-scoop from a hack journalist. Why derail the only thread active during the holidays?

Larry David is a genius, you can see how much of an influence he was during Seinfeld. Curb is absolute dynamite!.. Kind of over South Park these days, looking forward to Archer though.

This makes sense because your dumn. People will be talking about The Nightman Cometh for decades.

Sunny is amazing. The first few seasons were comedy gold. Last couple haven't been as strong though.

I'm dumb? Good reasoning. Just don't find him that funny - haven't watched many episodes of Sunny though from what I saw of him and him in Horrible Bosses, he just seemed annoying.

Let me be more specific - you have a terrible sense of humour.

Proof = your sig.

Awesome show, but Larry recently said the chances of another season are about 6:1.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Californication... although I guess that's done now too.

Guilty pleasure show. I've only watched through season 4 though.

I love Californication. It's so damn good. I think it's a little funny that whenever there is a sex scene it shows David Duchovny doing absolutely no work. I think the only scene he did was when he was drunk and knocked a painting off the wall.

Its Always Sunny

Arrested Development

Curb (episode where Larry picks up the fat black hooker to use the carpool lane is classic TV)

Seinfeld (pre-1996)

Simpsons (pre-1998)

IMO

Solid post. Personally I think Sunny is a tier below those shows and AD deserves a disclaimer about the 4th season. I'd probably add a Ricky Gervais/Stephen Merchant show. Probably Extras over The Office. Though the podcast and the XFM show they did with Karl Pilkington is my favourite thing they've ever done.

I don't understand why the discussion in this thread would bother anyone. One thing I've always liked about this forum and the old one is that topics were allowed to go wherever they would. Some forums you see will lock threads if they tread slightly off topic.

True detective covered a topic about ritualistic sacrifices and child rape committed by the powerful and wealthy. How often does a show, any show for that fact cover such a taboo topic. That show was truly a gem.

I agree. It deserved the hype it got IMO.

Im also a big fan of the writer of the series. He wrote a book called Galveston that I really enjoyed so when I saw he had written a T.V series I was pretty excited.

I saw Californication mentioned. It's a pretty good show. It was great in the early seasons but it defiantly faded a bit as the show went on.

One of the only shows I watch right now is Shamless? Anybody else what it? It can get kinda crazy especially earlier seasons but I f***ing love it haha. Amazing show IMO.

Other than that the only series I've watched are Breaking Bad and Entourage and I loved both.

I guess I need to watch more T.V. though. I find it hard to commit the time necessary to start a new series because I know I will likely get hooked.

I find it hard to get into movies if I've been watching a good TV series. The way a good series can explore and develop their characters is so much more satisfying than what can be accomplished in a 2-3 hour movie.

I started Wentworth an the League this weekend. Blazed through the first season of the League and seen the first two episodes of Wentworth. Enjoying both so far.

I used to love watching movies, but the past 3-5 years has really shifted me towards TV series. I agree the development of a good TV series is much more satisfying.

There's been an interesting shift recently where the stigma of being a TV actor has basically disappeared, and a lot of big names are getting into the game.

Yeah, off the top of my head McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell, Billy Bob Thornton, Liev Schreiber, and Clive Owen have all been involved in TV series in the last year. Signing on for a single-season run is something lot of big stars seem willing to do, which has never been the case before.

True Detective was probably the best TV I've ever watched... Breading Bad, Game of Thrones are also up there... I heard The Wire is a masterpiece but I don't think I have the patience to get into it

Well f*** it i'll weigh in here

House of Cards > Breaking Bad

This may be off topic but how about that second baseman?

Haha, even TV threads get derailed sometimes by baseball talk it seems.

I've enjoyed this thread purely because there is f*** all else to talk about right now. Hopefully once the new year comes we get some real news regarding Toritani. I think that he's the most likely scenario for the Jays, more so than Asdrubal.

House of Cards > Breaking Bad

US or UK? I've only watched the US version and I agree that it's quite excellent. I was binge watching it for a bit and stopped somewhere in season 2, his monologues really bother me. I found they weren't even needed most of the time.
