Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I guess a lot of O's fans are pretty upset that we're not getting DD now, since they were going to get Stroman, Sanchez and Pompey for him...
baseballsss Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 You guys are asking why they hate the Jays so much but for the past two years since the orioles got good 95% of this board despised the orioles lol.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I think the hate stems from how similar our teams are. Always in the shadow of Boston and New York, recently got rosters to compete with the big boys, history of being mediocre for much of the past 15 years.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Is Mark Cohon in the running?

Yep. Simple jealousy. They pulled themselves out of mediocrity before we did. TBH I like our chances going forward more than theirs though.

flafson Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 So much for making this go away, haha.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 building on draft picks alone takes years of being really s***** Drafting well also helps.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Drafting well also helps. of course. I'm talking more about getting a "franchise" guy in the draft. if you always finish middle of the pack you never get a number 1 or 2 pick

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Was just about to post this. It was obvious that he wants the position, you can tell the way he was talking about it. He's just being PC to maintain professionalism and to not turn his back on his contract. It's damn near exactly like the Farrell situation. Though, if he can't resign, and the Jays getting permission is the only possible way for this to happen, it doesn't seem like Angelos is ready to let go.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Twisted Logic, the best consecutive posts I have seen all day!
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 lol, told you guys Baldo would be a s*** signing.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I feel vindicated in s***ing on the idea of Ubaldo.

We've got the Rays on the run. We've stopped them this off-season like every off-season. We will make the World Series this year, we will, and nothing will stop us from stomping this division down like a snake in the desert. We are the Blue Jays and we are Rogers!"
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I thought compensation for moves like this only happen when it's a lateral move. Is there an example of a team getting compensation when someone moves to a higher position with a new organization? Exactly, there's no compensation involved, it's a promotion. I don't get why people keep talking compensation, there is none.

He's already been hired by the Oilers.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Ugh no What's wrong with Terry Ryan?
fapaholic Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 There was compensation when Epstein went to the Cubs and that was a promotion, so the precedent has been set. If this happens I'm sure there will be some compensation though it should be very little. Exactly, there's no compensation involved, it's a promotion. Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I don't see why Ryan would be a bad President. Baseball guy who commands a lot of respect around the league with a long track record of success as a GM in Minnesota. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with him than with Beeston. Agreed.
