Aw jeez

AA got to despairing the fan base nice and early this off season

Stupid trade now that I've mulled it over

Hmmm...so 25 in the last 2 years, not that bad, lol.

I thought it was much more than that. For some reason I thought he had been hurt and missed at least that many games in one year midseason. My memory must be shot.

He's definitely missed more than that. I know there were stretches of a week or so when the Jays said he had a tight back and wouldn't be starting, but he was available in a pinch, etc. Those are just the official ones.

I feel we've seen the beginning of the end in terms of Lind's power being sapped by his back just getting weaker and flexibility loss.

I guess another way of looking at it is it's one of those you take out bad contract we'll take yours while AA gets something instead of just buying him out?

Lind wasn't on a bad contract, He may not have had any surplus value, But not a bad contract. If the team wasn't broke they could have added money and got something better. Estrada isn't really overpriced either, He just doesn't seem to fit.

I wonder how much Smoak will end up costing, Could be a wash when combined with Estrada.

Could be 2 players at or about the same price for one kind of thing. Smoak will be interesting to see how it plays out.

wRC+ 141...singles hitter?? Stop while you're ahead.

Ahead? Throughout the entirety of his existence, I seriously doubt there's ever been a moment where Gruber could have been considered "ahead".

Ahead would have been before Ryan Goins made his MLB debut.

6 HR in 96 games for a middle of the order bat with the RC as his home field. Stop the balls licking.

The more I think about it, the less and less I like the trade. It doesn't hurt too much for me though as I'm not a fan of having Lind on the team.

Smoak could be worthless and unless Estrada is a starter or lights out reliever he will have a hard time being worth more than a win.

Wat? The game is on...

I SAID GOOD DAY!!

The game is on? You're getting boarder line pathetic. You're not impressing anyone, especially the teenagers.

Why doesn't 6 HR in 96 games not concern anyone?

Because he had a .450 slugging and a 141 WRC+ regardless. The Jays just lost one of their good hitters, only 3 left.

Irrelevant if he can't stay healthy. A .450 slugging is nothing special from a 4/5 hitter.

I could give a f*** about a 4/5 hitter having an exceptional OBP.

Well since you could.....

I've stopped trying to think about these things logically. So I think about them like AA now. He's got 2, maybe 3 young starters who have never been fully stretched out over a season. So he thinks, I need a veteran long reliever. He sees Estrada with 43 IP's in 3 months with a nice shiny ERA. He sees 13 outings with 2 or more innings pitch and I think he sees an 80+ inning reliever to help control the IP's of his young pitchers (again this is not me defending this move just me downing the hind quarter of a lamb and channeling my inner Greek).

Lind he sees as an injury risk who can't hit lefties (well at least I hope he sees that much anyway). I'm blown away that he was considering not picking up the option. So with that he just considers this like signing a Marco Estrada (which I could see him signing him for $5M).

Anyway what we know is that payroll will be approximately $140M. This saving isn't much at all...so unless one of Reyes or Buehrle is moved, the offense is not likely to get two of the Jays top choices at their positions of need.

It's another wonderful year of a sideways moves with no real end plan

Stick to your dinosaur theory, in Bedrock, man. He slugged 479...pfffttt, singles hitter.

Dinosaur theory? Yep, those two out walks with RISP are extremely valuable.

To get to the hitter behind him, yup, he should swing out of the zone?

Not out of the zone. How many 2-0 cookies has Lind passed on with RISP? I'll tell you, TOO f***ING MANY!!
