reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 They have the same question marks that they had at the beginning of the offseason, even more with the departure of Lind. Being really top heavy is probably a terrible way to build a team, are we allowed to be mad that they didn't address the obvious problems?

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 #1 to replacement was actually 5.9 wins. The Mets were far below replacement. I didn't referred to the RL, I referred to the worst in the league. WAR = Wins

The difference was also over 100 runs. May be 5 WAR, but it could cost more than 5 wins. I think a poor bullpen will lead to bad results from sequencing and a team that underperforms its pythag, I admit I have nothing to back that up though.

Innings that are in close or leading games should be worth a lot more. Getting 3 outs in the ninth are more valuable than getting 6 outs in the 3rd and the 4th

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 You're just talking about leverage, which is included in reliever WAR. Oh is it. I didn't know that.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Sorry if posted already Ben Nicholson Smith article in Sports Weekly USA Today on the Jays roster. VERY in depth. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2015/02/04/toronto-blue-jays-organizational-report/22863357/

(assuming the game isn't already out of reach in the former situation...)

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I just an am not understanding why it's so hard to add some depth here. We have a good core and yet we are sacrificing the back end to save a few bucks

We have a good core and yet we are sacrificing the back end to save a few bucks You're such a f***ing imbecile. Every single time the Jays have made a depth signing this offseason, you were right there to bitch and complain about it; now you're bitching about there not being enough depth? Really? Re: Blue Jays sign Andy Dirks You honestly dont need a source for this, nobody cares and it isn't thread worthy. Garbage signing, more wasting time by AA Re: Blue Jays sign Matt West AA is setting this bullpen up as a major weakness. With so many other posotive loves he is going cheap on an essential part of winning Unless the pen is improved jays will likely be in major bullpen trouble by may/june with that same old song. One blown lead after another Re: Blue Jays sign Ronald Belisario and Ramon Santiago Ewww throwing money and games down the toilet Re: Blue Jays sign Tiago Da Silva Cant tell if serious or joking Seriously just f*** off already. How you went from being a decent poster to utter garbage in the matter of a few months is beyond me, but all you are is a nuisance at this point. Cry to yourself, stop dragging everybody else down.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Twitter conversation regarding Bluejay payroll...... Passan gives a good link to Bluejay payroll spreadsheet. Nothing really new here but things don't add up Mike Lopinski @Mikeleelop · 11m11 minutes ago So @JeffPassan says on @SNJeffBlair show that the Jays are $15million under last years payroll at this point, and that doesn't make sense @SNJeffBlair · 9m9 minutes ago @Mikeleelop @JeffPassan The fact is we don't know what the payroll is. Mike Lopinski @Mikeleelop · 8m8 minutes ago @SNJeffBlair @JeffPassan but a simple comparison shows its lower than last year doesn't it? Beeston said it was going up Jeff Passan @JeffPassan · 3m3 minutes ago @Mikeleelop @SNJeffBlair Based on this, even if Donaldson wins arb case, payroll looks like it's around $125M. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0Ah4PW47PiAi-dGxHdU93c1NxcU9CUzRINmhBZy1RX1E&output=html … 11:37 AM - 9 Feb 2015 · Details

glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Yes, send Navarro to the Tigers. Make it happen.

Jason Beck #Tigers announce Victor Martinez tore his medial meniscus in left knee during workouts last week. Scheduled for surgery with Dr. Andrews lol Navarro to the Tigers? After VMart injury

RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 How we shore up the pen will determine how good we are. I'm content with the rotation with Estrada/Sanchez/Norris competing for the 5th spot. Should be solid/good I would think, barring a major Stroman setback. The offence should be excellent, despite the whole at 2B. An elite closer would do this team wonders, as I do like the rest of the pen as long as we get that true shutdown 9th inning guy.

If he relieves this year it's not like they can't just transition him back to the rotation next season. Lots of guys break in as relievers for a year or two (see St Louis).
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Soria for Navarro! lol Lobstein?
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 So the Question is how desperate is Dombrowski right now lol.
