History has shown players usually suck playing injured so you are better off to let them get healthy.

How the nutritionalist and training staff even lets Lawrie drink red bull as a professional athlete is a joke. Biosteel which half the team drinks is much more healthy and actually is a sport performance drink. Redbull is one of the stupidest drinks to have as an athlete let alone a MLB player. Everybody who disagreed with myself (and others) when I said the Jays needed Drew or some equivalent infielder instead of a pitcher in the spring...I hope it has finally settled in that the combo of Lawrie and Reyes are not reliable for anywhere close to a combined 300 games each year.

I think most people knew we needed a 2nd baseman. And what do you know, we still need a 2nd baseman.

I wasn't around this neck of the woods back then, but did anyone actually disagree with that? I can easily see arguing against Drew based on the asking price but arguing against needing an infielder is a stretch. Think that was the most glaringly obvious hole considering we had penciled in Goins as a starter

This sucks. Really hope he can back in September. More pressure on AA to make a waiver trade. Edwin looks a couple weekd out. Lind is atleast a week with rehab time. He doesn't really hope our problems against LHP though.

Lind could be in the line up as early as tomorrow according to Gibbons.

Unreal. How many injuries can one guy pick up. And how many injuries can one team rack up RUNNING THE GOD DAMNED BASES??

Didn't u see him on the replay.....he was running like he was f***in possessed. I guess he was just happy not to have been plunked in the hand for once.

This roster has probably 1 to many platoons on it. A guy like Prado or Headley could have been everyday guys and freed up an opening. This is all happening without a platoon in CF where one needs to be as well.

Lol yeah i didn't mean it like that, i love platoons. The fact is you only have a 25 man roster and you need some everyday guys. CF right now will be playing against lefties which is not good....

I think by around March the FA cupboards were getting pretty thin and people here were resigned to the fact that AA probably didn't have much maneuverability with respect to payroll and were hoping for at least one upgrade, but doubting two. It was split pretty evenly between SP and a MIF. The SP side rationalized that 162 games of Goins, Izturis or Kawasaki were tolerable but the team really needed an innings eater. My argument was that we were looking at least at 200 games due to injury. Of those three (with Tolleson replacing Izturis) and with 47 games left and two positions to fill (maybe Lawrie gets in 10 games at the end of the season if they are still in the hunt), those three guys plus Izturis are going to add up to over 250 games and that assumes Reyes lasts all season. And that doesn't count Francisco and his 85. Add in his pretty useless last 40 or so games and the Jays approach 300 games of scrubbish MIF.

Of course the Jays got neither SP nor MIF so the argument was pointless anyways. But I would hope that now fans and the front office view a middle infielder as the #1 priority now and headed to the offseason by a long shot. The Jays lack a true ace which is very hard and costly to acquire, but as far as the five guys in there right now, you can't point to one and say "we need him out of the rotation now". If Happ is the #5 guy, he easily deserves an MLB roster spot based on 2014 performance over the guys who are going to play 2B/SS/3B for the rest of the year except Reyes.

Trade for Rios and move Bautista to 3rd.

If Bautista could play 3rd base I bet he would be there right now. I think he took some grounders at 3rd in practice and the Blue Jays felt he wasn't a fit there.

Oh Jesus, one of them.

Playing through injuries works great. Just ask Shin Soo Choo, Carlos Gonzalez, and all the other players every year who play through injury and consequently cost their team wins.

Fire this guy and that guy, wow, you know exactly who is responsible for what! You should definitely have a job in baseball.

Thanks. I will dedicate my playoff games to you so you may take part in my glory.

Before my retooled team does well next year, I'll take pleasure in watching you get curb stomped by con-

Oh god that was way too far. I'm sorry Boxy. BFFs again?

Who f***ing cares. We already have all defensive types of infielders who can't hit well. Lawrie and his pos bat won't be missed.

We need EE and Lind back big time.

The players generally don't DL themselves; that's done by their bosses who want to protect their investments and not further injure an asset because of #hustleandheart. Docking their pay wouldn't make anyone less injured because even though they earn millions they aren't superhuman. In fact, docking their pay would probably cause more injuries as guys would force themselves to play through injury in order to not lose their paycheck. And normal people are able to work through injuries more than athletes because most professions aren't physical sports. Try swinging a bat and sliding all over a field with a tweaked oblique and report back.
