burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Made of glass. Pretty much done for the season.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Unreal. How many injuries can one guy pick up. And how many injuries can one team rack up RUNNING THE GOD DAMNED BASES??

Apparently he felt the injury in warm up. Makes me wonder how he even did it. Really wish we could of had Headley or Prado now.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Picture of lawrie taken after Tuesday's game. I like his hat. He was not available for comments. http://www.mosaicartnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/4092260242_3d88f042a92-240x320.jpg
Spoonovic Verified Member Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 Third oblique injury of his young career. I believe hes missed at least 40 games every season too now.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Hopefully he starts off hot next year and you trade him.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Oh well. So much for that "let's not do a trade and wait for our guys to come back off the DL" strategy. Congrats to the O's on their AL East crown.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Does arbitration take into account how many games you've missed? Can't see him making much money with him barely able to play 100 games a season.
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 This just makes front office look worse and worse. Headley and Prado both go to our division rival for very little - two players we clearly could have benefited from. And this just makes it more painful of a non-move. Just brutal.

Those guys aren't much better than what we've got and in Prado's case you'd be taking on quite a bit of salary.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 in Prado's case you'd be taking on quite a bit of salary. I was just going to say that. Saying Prado went for very little is misleading. The financial commitment was considerable. Headley and McCarthy were much more realistic targets.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Those guys aren't much better than what we've got and in Prado's case you'd be taking on quite a bit of salary. I think Headley is a lot better than what the Jays have. He could actually replace Lawrie's defense at 3B. No one on the current roster can do that.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Those guys aren't much better than what we've got and in Prado's case you'd be taking on quite a bit of salary. Chase Headley is much better than a Kawasaki-Tolleson platoon. He also didn't have any money after this year.
baubau Verified Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 3-6 weeks? Why do I have a feeling that AA will do nothing during the wavier period and his excuse will be "people wouldn't have liked our trades" & "Lawrie is coming back from the DL so we feel like we're acquiring a bat in and of itself". I am not even mad, that's amazing.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Those guys aren't much better than what we've got and in Prado's case you'd be taking on quite a bit of salary. the fact that they let Prado get through waivers shows that they weren't interested in that contract.

Key to that statement is that they are better though. And Prado's got salary attached to him sure, but he's a versatile player which fits in perfectly with this roster. Plus our FO has plenty of financial resources remember? Sigh............

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Mister Lawrie and Mister Morrow
littleboybluejaysadist Verified Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Fricken players would melt if they come in contact with water!. What a bloody joke they are, millions of dollars they are paid they should play thru anything that's not life threatening. Lind and Lawrie are two of the worst culprits , especially Lind what a P":"Y. He doesn't even play the field! Start docking their pay then see how injured they are. Time to fire the jays whole medical recovery team they heal like geriatrics a normal person heals twice as fast as these jokers....I'm so choked:-(
littleboybluejaysadist Verified Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 And don't even get me started on Morrow should be an RCMP investigation for theft and fraud.bhow much has he played for his large salary?

Don't forget the hit in losing Francisco who is filling in at 3rd, 1st and DH for injured players. I'll admit you gain nominal improvement with Headley over the spare part platoons we are using but a lot of that is having the hindsight that Lawrie is hurt again. Don't forget, Headley's playing with a herniated disc as well and is probably just as big of a risk to get hurt as Lawrie was. But hey, hindsight makes for a pretty good armchair GM.

Well yeah, go ahead and add nominally better players all day but if they aren't worth what you are giving up and/or their own salaries then it's not worth it. Prado is owed 11 mil a year through 2016. His defense at 2B (where we would need him most) is not good either, so no, he doesn't fit perfectly in to this roster.

Well I was a fan of getting Headley before the Lawrie trade and FWIW I have said as much. If Lawrie comes back healthy and you have to move him to 2B, that's a nice problem to have. For one think, if you have everyday players at 2B and 3B, it opens up bench options such as rostering Kratz.
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Calling it now. Jays will get Kelly Johnson from the Red Sox. Hopefully AA can find enough spare change in between the TD Seats to pay for him.

For the Jays Morrow $244,191 per start (last two years $1M per start) For the Jays Buehrle $517,857 per start
