Guys who hit for power but have low average and OBP are not that uncommon. If he was just some prospect who came up regularly through the system and put up the same type of numbers he wouldnt have so much hype around him.

Nope! He negotiated a special type of contract that lets him avoid the arbitration/six-year FA process.

 

He's a good player, sure, but the A's have a lot of other useful players they can now mix-and-match with in LF.
