Pulk_Pull Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I for one am glad we still have Norris Pompey Sanchez I state this and get called out for being stupid and not to be banned. Cranky pants in here since 9am.... knew I should of brought that aged sharp welsh chedder today.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 ... I hope Amaro never leaves baseball because he is good for some laughs.....
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 AA has called up Stroman & Sanchez who have both given the team a huge boost. He acquired Francisco earlier in teh year who looks to be a 2.5-3 WAR player. Reimold and Valencia are also excellent bench pieces. He made tweaks throughout the year that have been effective. You don't have to make a move on deadline day just for the sake of making a move. True, but in this case, it's not to make a deal just for the sake of doing a trade. This team needs another strong arm to be a legitimate contender, period. The current pitching staff will not be able to take on the A's or Tigers in the playoffs. Moreover, this is the first chance we have in 21 years to make it to the postseason. Another arm would actually make the WS a possibility.

Some people don't understand,,,,, The reason Cardinals have got so good is because they DEVELOP their own rotation in most cases..... Develop their own players. This is how you have sustained success.. In 2 years our Rotation is going to be Stroman Norris Sanchez Hutch if everything works out. You don't trade 1 of them for a reliever like Miller. I think the O's over paid. You don't make a trade on Deadline day just to make a trade.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I think the Braves just acquired Bonifacio in the hopes of him playing 2B.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 To be fair, I find Amaro just as derp as everybody else, but if you haven't checked out Byrd's page lately do so before laughing; an oversell obviously, but he's worth owning. e: Production is a stupid term anyway though. Link?

A big trade would boost the team, yes, but at huge cost. Especially for the ace starter that makes the WS a "Possibilty". The truth is that no trade will single-handedly make the Jays a WS contender if they weren't already in the conversation. The A's and Tigers are both elite now in the current AL, and nothing the Jays could do will make those playoff series easier unless they transform themselves into the Dodgers overnight. As for the 21-year bitterness, it's not AA's responsibility to make up for the failings of previous regimes. Past disappointments shouldn't dictate moves for the present or future.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Apparently Gibbons is starting Valencia against a RHP. What a f***ing idiot. I don't get it either.. Kawasaki has been good the past few games.
jays76 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Translation, there were no deals that made sense because it would cost too much to have the other team send back finances. Lol @ every one of your recent posts. Pretty much sums it up today, just nauseating trying to process what TB gave Price away for while Rogers were bean counting.

Well I stand by my original post. We'll just have to agree to disagree, brother.
wardhenke1 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Provide us with several trade suggestions that you realistically think we could've pulled off please. Again, AA has improved the roster (Kratz notwithstanding) over the last few weeks. Perhaps we could have offered slightly more than Peter O'Brien for Martin Prado? Like, I don't know, anything? As to whether or not Valencia, Reimold, Brett Wallace, Cole Gillespie, Cory Aldridge and Darin Mastroianni will significantly improve the team, we'll see.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 I don't think any big deals are going to.happen today. Lester and Price stay put. Deals should have happened already. In retrospect, one of the worst predictions in some time. LOL
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 In retrospect, one of the worst predictions in some time. LOL self ban please
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 The worst part is that at the time, JPA alone would have gotten Rogers
closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 In the end, I think we dodged a bullet. The only player I could part with (with any value atm) would be Rasmus, Delabar. And for the B list: Pillar, Rassmusen, Wagner. We wouldn't get much for those guys. It would have been great to dump morrow coming off DL with a big contract for example, but the return would be s***. In the end, I think we dodged a bullet. We are playing pretty good atm and AA could have f***ed up the chemistry with a trade.
jb22 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Sorry if this has been posted but it blew my mind. A's roster construction: Trades: 17 players (11 this year alone) Free agents and waiver claims: 6 Drafts: 2 That's crazy!
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Apparently Gibbons is starting Valencia against a RHP. What a f***ing idiot. Well he ended up getting a double and scoring. I wonder if you felt the same way about Reimold
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Barney's loaded, I'm pissed, we're alright.
