GD made one earlier but a glitch killed it when I tried to tidy it up

Short of a Blue Jays done deal please post rumours and non-Jays deals in here

Cheers

The #Cubs formally announced that they've traded Darwin Barney and cash to the #Dodgers for a player to be named later.

I like the Dodgers did it just so that they can screw the Giants over.

The Uggla experiment has been an utter disaster and I'm sure they'll release him within a week.

They really should be making inquiries for our Kawasaki or Tolleson..

Apparently Indians very willing to deal Masterson, not surprising as he has been terrible. If the price was really no more than a salary dump is he even worth it with the season he has been having?

You guys think we have a shot at Lester and would Boston send him here? What do you think it would take and what do you think is fair for a rental? He'd be just what we needed down the stretch..

If we send them the best package they will trade him here. Why would they care if he plays here for 2 months when the Red Sox aren't competing? Probably going to take one of our best 3 prospects.

Phillies apparently have made Hamels available for the right price. He's someone I'd be willing to overpay for in prospects if the $ works. True ace.

A little expensive for a rental, they may jump at a prospect out of the top 3 to headline the deal but it really depends on what they get offered elsewhere. More importantly though would you pull the trigger, who would or wouldn't be sufficient to part with?

Nice thought but I couldn't see the Jays taking on such a long & pricey contract.

I guess the Phillies don't want to pay more than $10 million of the remaining money. I wonder what it would take to get him. RAJ doesn't have a good track record when it comes to trading his star pitchers (think Lee).

It's actually not that pricey ($22.5M per and the Phillies are willing to eat some $), but yeah, AA would have to clear some salary.

Maybe the Phillies take back Happ and the $ the Phillies give applies heavily to 2014 (although I don't know if they're allowed to choose how $ is distributed).

He said recently that getting 3 quality prospects for Lee or Hamels would be "light"

f*** off. Gotta swallow more $$ if you want a decent return on these guys. Your fault you signed those contracts.

John Lott comfirming the obvious. Rogers not wanting to add any more $ even if it helped the team make the playoffs. This new CEO must be pretty hard to deal with. The Rogers brand could take a big hit if doesn't make the playoffs because they couldn't add money.

Doesn;t matter, they have a monopoly anyway.

That would be quite an upgrade in Lefties sending Happ back home. I like it but we'd probably have to give up Sanchez and a handful of prospects, and even with Philly eating salary I couldn't see the Jays making a move of this magnitude. I'm not really liking their body language and posturing at all, starting in the off season and right up to this deadline. Depressing..

They can choose. That would work. Maybe they take back Happ & Romero and pay less.

Phillies fan on another board wants Pederson, Urias, and Seager. Not or. And. Dude's gonna be disappointed lol

I assume (I could be wrong) that if they agree to send cash it would depend on when they send it ie if the deal called for say $20M but an equal amount over the course of X years, or a certain amount upfront. Then I guess AA could use it as he felt fit.

He wrote a lot without verifying anything. The article is flawed badly - How does this even hint at Rogers not willing to add to payroll?

"Based on public statements by general manager Alex Anthopoulos and the baseball rumour mill, the Jays cannot add significant salary unless they unload a similar amount. Granted, Anthopoulos has not said that. In fact, he has been careful not to say that."

There are many instances where he is saying things which do not validate Rogers unwillingness to spend more money. He goes on with this contradictory nonsense such as this:

"Based on public statements by general manager Alex Anthopoulos and the baseball rumour mill, the Jays cannot add significant salary unless they unload a similar amount. Granted, Anthopoulos has not said that. In fact, he has been careful not to say that."

That was definitely a disappointing piece of writing since it is all speculation based on misinterpretations.

^ Toronto writers (baseball writers in general, really) are pretty garbage. This kind stuff has become typical. And I say that as someone who is generally a fan of Lott's. But I guess he feels that if everyone can get hits off this trash, he might as well join in and capitalize on the moronic Jays fan base that will eat this s*** up.

Just look at the guy who posted the link. "John Lott confirming the obvious", probably didn't even read the article.

So apparently according to sean McAdam of csnne.com Jays have been one of the more aggressive teams in trying to get Lester take that with however many grains of salt you need.

If the rumours were not true why would AA not come out and say they could add payroll? There has been zero evidence to suggest Rogers will spend more $ on payroll. I mean they had to go around with a f***ing hat and beg the players to defer their salary so they could add Ervin Santana

it all depends on what they have to give up for him. I wouldn't want to give up much for 2 months of Lester.

They are going to be looking for at least one solid prospect which makes me think that Pompey or Norris may be the odd ones out unless they would take someone from A ball

One of those guys makes the most sense. Can't see them giving away Sanchez for 2 months of Lester but a guy who's a little further away would be alright.
