saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Don't look into his 2014 stats. He's been pretty bad, though he's still just 24 and has a fantastic arm. I'd prefer Miller over those two still any day. just curious..why don't his 2014 stats count....lol
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 For real? Yep, Farrell even said so. The Red Sox want to give the acquiring team an extra start.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 So, Lester for sure traded now? Just a matter of who. Yep. Seems like a classic bidding war has ignited. Red Sox seem to have acceptable offers but are waiting for the best one to emerge.

FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Not sure why anyone would trade anything good for Lester. He's already setting the stage for him to go back to the Sux next year with their farm bolstered by whoever the other team traded for him. It's disgusting.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Ken_Rosenthal Sources: #STLCards, #Dodgers, #Pirates all in mix for #RedSox’s Lester.

Time to send Amato to the s*** zone Lol I feel bad for Amaro not being able to trade any of his guys...but f*** that roster is horrendous. He should be shipping guys who have some actual value atm like utley, ruiz, bastardo, rollins because everything else is pretty much trash.

Funny thing is, for me, he's the only guy I'd target, if Rogers have the money for the Jays!! Nobody will call Amaro, he's a joke. Every GM hates the troll offer for Amaro. Brown+ for Bautista Kendrick > Garza Howard for 2 Top-50 prospects
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I think if I was AA, I'd make a stupid good offer, with the "have to be able to negotiate an extension" and then just don't worry about the extension... And let it fail.... OH WE TRIED! But we couldn't get the extension... Too bad it all sucked.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I've gone from checking twitter every 20 minutes to every minute with the Lester not pitching news. When jays start getting serious mention in rumours I'll be at every 20 seconds. LOVE trade deadline. 31st is one of best days off the year.
Spoonovic Verified Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Jays will not make a big move. Stop getting your hopes up. AA has no money left unfortunately.

No one would deal with him again but part of me would laugh at the drag it out for 72 hours for an extension period only to never be serious.

I doubt he'd do much of anything even if he had the money. Outside of getting Colby he really hasn't done much at the deadline. OK, those years they weren't in contention but he'll either claim the price was too much, we didn't have money, we're getting guys back from the DL so it's like making a trade etc. Most of the big fish will be too costly so I really don't mind him not selling what's left of the farm for a rental or someone who will tie up payroll. A guy like Price would be outstanding but I doubt it would happen with the funds even being available. I'm still going to hope at least something gets done, even another minor deal like they just made but I won't get my hopes up.

The deadline is a nice replacement for Christmas morning when you're an adult The bad side is, much like when you're a child, you get the box of socks from a distant relative, or a bird knitted on a sweater that gets you beaten up when you're forced to wear it to school to make your grandmother happy because she bought it for you. (bonus points if you get the reference)
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Now that is some serious detective work..
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Hah, tweet was deleted. Didn't get a screenshot, but it's still there. Damn haha
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I wonder what the cost to get Uehera from the Red Sox would be? He would be someone who could really improve this club. Its a shame he didn't waive his NTC before. Now that I think about it how many good players in recent years have used their NTC against Toronto? Kinsler, Uehara and there has to be someone else i am forgetting..
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 If the A's are in on Lester, the price not be as high as everyone (or just myself) is speculating? They already traded the big fish in Russell. Imagine if the A's acquired Lester..what a force they would be. Dan Robertson and Mat Olson are legit prospects

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I got a strong feeling that Colby is not going to be a Blue Jay come Friday...... Gose has been getting a lot of playing time of lately and is ready to be everyday CF. Would not get much from him but could be a part of a package. M's need an outfielder right now could make sense.

Rasmus is finally starting to heat up (.865 OPS over the last two weeks). I also don't trust Gose playing every day. Would not approve of a Rasmus trade unless the prospects coming back were quite good.

I'm not sure how interested the M's would be in Colby. Their lineup is pretty left handed as it is.

Believe it or not, I wouldn't be surprised either if Colby is dealt. Gose has emerged in recent times as a OF, even with limited power, has plenty of speed and can actually take a walk once in a while.. Colby Rasmus hasn't been good this year, and getting rid of his 30% K rate and struggles to make contact would help, along with his defensive decline. Still, any trade should really net us a young OF as well to replace him.

Not saying it will happen just a strange feeling that I have today..... However I did over indulge last night at beer league.

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 surely the jays wouldnt be trading for prospects now I don't think they would deal him for prospects. They would have to package him for someone who can help now ala Franklin however I do keep forgetting how Left Handed heave Seattle is right now.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Why do we need Nick Franklin when we have Ryan Goins?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Seriously though, we don't have to make a move. We're pretty much going to be acquiring Lawrie, Edwin and Lind. That's a pretty huge haul.
