BTS Community Moderator Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 So you're saying there are better ways to evaluate a pitcher's control. That's fair. At how many first pitches would you start using F-strike% to make a decision on a player? 200? Let's say your guy is sitting at a 65% F-strike% after 200 hitters, which would be elite. League average is 60%. So you're talking about 10 strikes separating elite from average, possibly confounded by umpire, QoC, framing bias etc... So it's pretty dubious. And at that point you're at 50-60 IP, so the skills you're trying to tease out have already manifested themselves in a meaningful walk rate, with a K-rate approaching meaningful. I just don't see the utility.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 Sanchez today performance 4.1 IP, 3 K:BB ratio. wait.....I'm missing something?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2015 Author Posted April 11, 2015 BUMP Sanchez, time to shut some mouths, include my mouth
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Why are all your countrymen taking stanozolol? I hear they're looking for length since you know...
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2015 Author Posted April 11, 2015 Why are all your countrymen taking stanozolol? That is new for me. My wife said to me "Stanozolol is like weed, that just help you to eat more"
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 The new RC turf is slow, that mean, Aaron Sanchez projection might change, ++negative.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 Aaron Sanchez final line 5.1 IP, 3 walks, 4 K's, GO 8-2 FO
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Overall, take this start as a positive for him. Held his velocity all night and at least avoided hard contact. This is probably the guy we see all year, unless he improves. At least the Sanchez from tonight could play as a #5 SP. Baltimore Sanchez was 92/93 mph garbage

There will be games when he is in command all game, echoes of montreal last year. That is a Sanchez I'll pay to see.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 Aaron Sanchez: 3.3% SwStr

That is a Sanchez I'll pay to see. Maybe if some stupid team keeps swinging at balls, or he rides an insane amount of BABIP luck for a game. I highly doubt we'll see Sanchez completely shut down a decent lineup on his own accord this season.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 ^That would be funny if the sequence made any comedial sense. Try again. Actually don't. Explain to me what "echoes of montreal last year" means.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Bump. 6 K's and counting. Suck it haters.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Aaron Sanchez was legitimately fantastic today. Kudos to him. Agreed - you have to give credit where credit is due.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2015 Author Posted May 24, 2015 Weak contact skill for days!!
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Weak contact skill for days!! Not even just weak contact, 3.25 xFIP today
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2015 Author Posted May 24, 2015 Not even just weak contact, 3.25 xFIP today Sanchez arm is just amazing, but command
93 Jays Verified Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 He only walked 3.1 actually which for Sanchez would be a career best. If you're defense of Sanchez is that Norris is bad too then it's not much of a defense because Sanchez is clearly worse. It's funny reading back through a few of the Sanchez threads and seeing people bag against Sanchez. He's been money against the AL east this year and could easily be 17 or 18-2 if it weren't for some shoddy defense behind him as well as a bullpen that was in bad shape early on. Now Sanchez looks like the guy who would start the wild card for us and yet not too long ago, people were getting laughed at for comparing him to Stroman. It's only one season, but his numbers say that he's an ace at this level and most everybody were arguing and downright laughing at that assertion.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Do you start Sanchez the last day of the season against the Red Sox or skip him and get him ready for the wild card game? If we have home field for the wild card locked up, I think you definitely have to skip him.

Get Sanchez ready for the Wild Card game.

If we have home field for the wild card locked up, I think you definitely have to skip him. Home field against the Orioles or Away against Detroit, I would use Sanchez. In fact, I'd probably use him if the opposite of either of those came true. That was a dynamite start when we really needed him.

(I posted a link a while back)
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Yeah I think it's pretty much a lock that Sanchez pitches the wild card game unless they absolutely need to win Sunday's game. He's been the best starter on the team all season. Whatever happens, he's the guy you want on the mound next Tuesday. Happ would be fine too, but the way the rotation lines up, Sanchez would make more sense. Have the Dickster have his last start on Sunday before he rides off into the sunset. If that was his last start of the regular season last night, man, what a season he's had. I was a big Sanchez doubter, but he's been absolutely amazing since the start of spring training onwards. Huge transformation.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I'd rather have Happ and have Sanchez pitch out of the pen for that game.
Governator Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 The last game of the season could very well end up being meaningless and our B squad will play with Scott Diamond or Dickey on the mound.
JoJo Parker Dunedin Blue Jays - A SS On Tuesday, Parker was just 1-for-5, but the one hit was his first professional home run. Explore JoJo Parker News >
