If this f***ing kid legitimately breaks this story, I'm done.

So far the only legitimate rumour regarding Headley to the Jays is Morosi saying they had been "in discussion."

Teams are in discussion all the time. Doesn't seem like anything is likely/imminent.

Jee-zus. Roberto Osuna is an "other prospect" to f***in' Kevin Pillar? Kevin Pillar as centrepiece I love. Roberto Osuna as centrepiece I hate.

If he was that vagina Chris Cotillo, he could be both.

I hope it's true to watch people freaking out over how a 14 year old is breaking news

A thread about the JAys signing Frank Francisco was started here a couple days ago for the exact same reason. Check your sources people!!

If Kennedy comes to jays, who gets moved out of rotation?

Buhrle obviously no

Dickey - on merit does he deserve spot?

Hutch - pretty steady, seems to be realizing some of his very high potential

Stroman - best pitcher last couple starts, I know sss

Happ - better than I expected lately

An upgrade but not very sexy but at least he's an MLB'er! Might be better off going with a platoon instead of Rodriguez though.

What about Josh Harrison from Pitt' as an option?

2B, 3B & OF experience.

The all star?

War of 2.0 this season already

Don't think he's available

Any GM in any sport that says a player is untouchable should be fired.

Sorry, I don't think he's available for second tier prospects. You'd be looking at Norris or Sanchez centrepiece

Not to mention that the pirates are still in playoff contention and are not selling. So I don't believe a 2.0 war player is available from a contending team. Pirates are prob buyers at this point

My bad, I forgot where I said we should offer up 2nd tier prospects.

Sure he'd be a good get. I'm not sure the Pirates are looking to move an infielder at this point though.

Just curious as to who you would give up, then? Last night you're throwing out ridiculously lop sided Jays trades for Bautista, now you want to trade prospects for teams in the midst of a WC race.

Headley heating up right now is probably terrible news for the Jays; every day he stays hot he hikes up his trade value a bit more. The more people write about the Jays being in on Headley, the more I think that it's not going to end up happening. Seems whenever this kind of story "breaks", whether it's something huge like Darvish or something small like Floyd, Jays fans are the ones that get burned.

ALA Ervin Santana Jays-Braves.

Nobody wanted Headley, but after Cotillo told about Jays-Headley all the teams want him.

I really don't think Headley getting hot increases his trade value. He's still an injured player on an expiring contract. I think it does increase the probability that the Jays pull the trigger especially if this is happening in front of Jays scouts.

The reason why I don't take the side of a buy stance, is because I don't believe in overpaying for a push. I'm mostly a fan of selling and pushing windows of contention open to bigger spans. I'm a fan of moving vets making chunks of money for prospects with good/great potential and using the money saved on moving the vet to acquire a FA vet. I'm not a fan of riding guys contracts out like Rasmus, Janssen, etc....where they're lost to free agency or extended to retirement. And since Rogers appears to not want to have a payroll that compares with teams who have payrolls in the 160-200+ the Jays have to be more creative than pursuing big name, big money players. If you're not gonna have a payroll like the big teams, then don't pretend to try and spend with them. Develop and farm and use it to your advantage.

I as a baseball fan don't build relationships with players where I can't fathom the thought of the Jays not trading them. Everyone should be on the table to be moved at any time, ensuring the deal is a win for the future and possibly the now as well.

Fair response, and I do agree with your thinking. To me, this is the absolute last spot I wanted to see the Jays in this year. Teetering on a playoff chance, in the midst of injuries. Gives the FO the illusion of a playoff team, when in reality we need a few roster adjustments. I would've been all for trading everyone not named Lawrie/Hutch/Stroman had this year fallen apart.

As it stands, I certainly don't hate the idea of acquiring Headley on the cheap, as he should provide more value than any of our AAAA players.

I'd be pretty pleased with a Headley get. Shouldn't cost too much at this point and Toronto could certainly use a buy-low IF bat with upside.

How aboot a Headley + Benoit + Kennedy package? Haha.
