G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 The Jays were 9-18 in the 27 games prior to Edwin missing time. Yep. The offense was already failing badly well BEFORE the guys all got hurt.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 You know what? We have infield depth now, the one thing we seemed to lack maybe most last year and first 2/3 of this year. (Well, last year the SP was the biggest problem) Valencia, Tolleson, Kawasaki, and heck even Goins and Francisco in small doses can provide some good service. The offense will be much deeper when EE and Lind are back, if Gibby can then figure out where to use the above guys and get the most out of them. The starting rotation continues to perform well, in large part thanks to the emergence of Stroman. I'd still LOVE another 1/2 caliber guy but it's working fine right now. It's a shame the bullpen is suddenly so rocky - that seems like the weakest link right now. He can't really trust anyone right now.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Edwin better not be back until he's 100%. Don't want to see another f***ing Lawrie situation.

EE was in the line up and the team still went 9-18 in the 27 games prior to his getting hurt...clearly, the team is better off without him.

flafson Verified Member Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Ee 1-1. Looks like he hit the pitcher and knocked him out of the game that got him that single...
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Edwin trying his best to kill people again.. he's good to go!
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Edwin trying his best to kill people again.. he's good to go! We need to know if he lost control of any bats, that's usually a clear indication that EE is in top baseball form.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 Yeah, but it sure doesn't hurt to get them back? Moogy's an idiot. Yes of course And Moogy being Moogy
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Yeah, but it sure doesn't hurt to get them back? Moogy's an idiot. it only hurts getting injured players back if they are made of glass and break while going through their pregame shaving maneuvers. (cough cough... Lawrie... cough)

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 This is akin to the SOS argument that was had on these boards. "They're playing s***** teams and the Orioles are facing a gauntlet! The division is ours!" And, then, not so much. Of course, I was correct about that, as well. And, now, it was "the WC is/was a lock with EE around." Well, yeah ... no. Obviously. And that's the context in which that comment was made. Is the team generally likely to be better off with a healthy EE back? Sure. But that doesn't mean the team will do any better than it has been doing. Because EE may not perform well. And because other players may take a downturn, "cancelling" out the positive contributions from EE. There is a difference - a simple obvious difference, which apparently escapes you - between saying EE will lead the team to the promised land, and saying you'd rather have EE than not have EE. Now go blame Rogers for providing the front office with enough payroll room to easily field a winner. Those bastards. Damn them. Damn them straight to hell. I'm glad you and I agree that the Blue Jays are better off with EE....thank you.
jays76 Verified Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 So Lind & EE during this Seattle series if all goes well and Lawrie in possibly a wk or two. Any news on Morrow and his progress? Last I heard he was lightly throwing a few wks ago.

fireballW Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Edwin back tomorrow? Please someone tell me Edwin did not leave the game after 1 AB because he got injured....
Vincent Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Please someone tell me Edwin did not leave the game after 1 AB because he got injured.... f***, not much other explanation. Season over!
fireballW Verified Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 f***, not much other explanation. Season over! There is a chance they wanted to get him 1 ab and then will play him in the second game. But that would be weird. Ugh dont be injured.

Ugh dont be injured. Poor conditions in today's game, so they pulled him. He's now on his way to Buffalo to play a series with the Bisons. I imagine this means he'll be back this weekend. Good news!

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 12, 2014 Author Posted August 12, 2014 Not official yet but all the usual writers expect Lind to be activated today and in the lineup tonight Mills was DFA last night, making room

Chappy Community Moderator Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 We need EE back in a big way. Hopefully they can win the next two and keep things close until we get our elite cleanup hitter back.
