saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 And you deny that the Jays are slumping? I'd be much more concerned if we were losing games 10 to 8 every time....Dickey lost today giving up 2 earned runs...buehrle lost giving up 1 earned over 7..stro lost giving up 3 runs over 6.....the starting pitching outside of happ still looks pretty decent to me....the offense will come around...Colby should be back soon too...

TheBoneCollector Verified Member Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 They just came off of a 4-0 shutout win and a 1-run loss in which a fielding error was the difference. They just swept the Tigers last week. I'm not a dumbass incapable of critical thinking, like most of the sky-is-falling mob, so yes I do deny it. If the Jays fell back to .500, or fell back into third place, I would understand people being upset. Being 10 games over .500 in the middle of June, and just the idea of falling back down is flipping people out to the point of making these stupid f***ing threads? I've started avoiding the GDT's because they're full of this garbage, at least have the decency to keep it in those threads and don't spread this ******** out to the rest of the forum. I just kept reading all the "Jays will contend even if they play .500 rest of the way" ******** in May and I could only think to myself "yeah f***ing right, if the Jays play anywhere close to .500 the rest of the way this place will implode". And what do you know, 7-5 record in June so far and we have a "stages of denial" thread. Give me a f***ing break. Fans in this city are so insecure it's pathetic. It almost scares me thinking about what would happen if one of these teams did win something. We'd probably see a nation-wide emotional breakdown and riots throughout downtown. I think you need to go to a doctor get some prozac. If an internet forum gets you this upset how do you function in the workplace or dealing with the general public? Or even around females?
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Stages of denial: 1.) It's OK guys, we're 10 games over 500 2.) It's OK guys, only our hitting is an issue, and we were bound to regress! 3.) It's OK guys, E5 and Bautista are going to heat up eventually 4.) It's OK guys, the Yankees and Orioles are both pretty bad teams overall and will regress 5.) It's OK guys, we may be a .500 team but we can go on a hot streak again! 6.) It's OK guys, we may be 5 games under 500 but we have an easy schedule coming up! 7.) It's OK guys, at least Farrell and Red Sox are worse than us! 8.) It's OK guys, at least we're not the worst team in the division! 9.) It's OK guys, at least we get a good draft pick next year! Seriously though, enough with the "it's OK" ********. At some point the team has to get out of this tailspin. But right now everything is going terribly for the Jays offense right now with no hint at it improving. If we split this series with the Orioles, I'll feel better. But losing 3/4 and I think the team has to admit that they need problems that need to be fixed. I don't want to hear about that BS from Buehrle how we're still OK. I started panicking when Jose Reyes threw the ball away. I smashed a 20,000 dollar computer that night. That wasthe night 2014 ended. Stages 1 through 9 you have up there were inevitable once Jose threw that ball in the dirt. So I won't be losing sleep over any of that. Stay Calm!

FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Panic? LOL, is this a joke? Firstly, the season is 162 games. If I even tried to panic over each and every one of them like some people on here do, I'd go crazy. Secondly, this is the Toronto Blue Jays. How many times have they teased the fans in the last 20 years only to amount to nothing? I just expect a collapse now and will be pleasantly surprised if they even make the playoffs, let alone win anything of note. Not to mention, this was a 74-win team last year with absolutely nothing done in the offseason to improve the roster aside from jettisoning JPA. If/when they collapse, AA's seat has to at least start getting hot. Even if we do collapse, we still win if AA and Beeston end up getting fired as a result.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 LOL sounds like a post from a dyslexic retard. Cats? Diabetes? Foulball? Off your prozac meat? WFT is that nonsense? I had you on ignore, took you off for the laughs, you know, like how whine how every post that does not Conform to your warped thinking, or make some insult at someone like a big mean keyboard warrior (scary). Don't worry back on ignore until I want to laugh. Keep trying to be cool behind that keyboard spanky, your going places man. Here's a prozac reference from Metallijay... it's him. Let's get a banning, please.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I hate losing every game it happens, but I know in 162 games even the best teams lose 72 times (ish) so some fans need to get real and get off the chicken little ledge. The last thing on this team I'm worried about is offense. SP, pen and D are ahead of Offense in any concerns I have. All teams scuffle especially after a long sustained blitzkrieg pulled off against some of the best teams in MLB. Did people expect Juan to have a 1.000 OPS for the whole season? Was EE going to 115 Home runs? Would Gose have a .400 OBP? Win tomorrow!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 The Jays are 3-6 since their offense went into a tailspin (2-6 in their last 8). A win tomorrow makes it 4-6. That is not a bad "bad stretch". Every team will have those. It's the 9 game losing streaks like we saw in 2009 that will bury teams. As long as the Jays avoid that during their hitting slump, they might be able to climb back up when the hitting corrects itself again. Just bad timing for a slump right when they face Baltimore and New York. Would have been nice to have those teams a week and a half ago.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Oakland got blown out by us a few weeks ago and are now back to 40-27. It happens to every team. I think the nervousness is warranted though. We had a bunch of guys play way over their heads during that hot stretch and the rotation is very, very average. Oakland had the pitching to weather the storm. Can we do the same? I'm not sure.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Look who's talking about medication, you schizophrenic, psychopathic freak. Oh but I'm sure you know all about pulling in "females" and interacting with the "general public" at your rate of 50-posts-per-day, on a forum community where just about everybody genuinely loathes you and you've been banned from a countless amount of times. But keep coming back, maybe at the tail-end of your miserable, regretful life you'll think of your long list of red-named forum handles as some sort of redeeming accomplishment. Until next time (and by next time, I mean the next time you get banned and create a new ID), goodbye. Man you seriously need to calm down. People vent on the internet. Get over it. Your whining about other people whining is even more pathetic than the actual whining.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Called it the day he signed up, definitely knew in his first GDT. Why was Spanky banned?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Basically, those who thought the team would run away with the division are getting a dose of reality...they just haven't figured out how to deal with it.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 We panic when other teams catch up. If the A's beat the Yanks, they are both still 3.5 games behind us, calm the f*** down lol

Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) I really don't understand the panic. Did anyone really think this team would run away with the division? I believe they have a chance to take it, but let's temper our expectations. During this losing streak I haven't really given one f*** about it. Not because I don't care, but because this was going to happen at some point and well here it is. Edited June 15, 2014 by Chappy

closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 As a Leafs fan, ive learned that panicking doesn't help anything (5-4 OT loss to the Bruins anyone?). Even in 1987 when we were 3.5 games up with 7 games left and failed to win the pennant it was more a sense of inevitable disappointment. Im not feeling that right now. Its a long season and even though there are some problems with our rotation and bullpen, I have faith that the offence will pull through.
