guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Francisco has been regressing at an alarming rate, if it gets to a point where we have to send him down or release him, what should happen at 2B? Some options include: - bringing back muni/some other replacement level LH and platooning him with tolleson - trade for a legitimate 2b/3b - see if goins is ready to stick what should AA do?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 AA said a few weeks back that he is looking for SP, a 3B and/or 2B. Ideally I'd like Lawrie at 3rd but if we have a chance to get a quality 3B for cheap then I wouldn't mind that. Ideally I'd like another Dominicano - Adrian Beltre. But we shall see.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 we get chase utley. pretty simple if you ask me .... I'd like him too, but that guy is a injury risk with his balky knees. He won't last long on turf.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 f*** man Beltre would be such a great get ... Murderer's Row of Bautista Encarnacion Beltre of course Lind would split that up but still.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Ideally I'd like another Dominicano - Adrian Beltre. Rangers wouldn't give him up, but if they did, I'd flip the f*** out. Still, you've got to be wary of trading with Daniels. I'd be more afraid of him in a trade than Friedman.

He's had 1 DL stint over the past 5 years... Has he not? Scratch that, he was on the 15 Day DL with a quad thing this year too. But his 2011 injury was hamstring. Where have you got that he has bad knees from?

Google Utley Knee and you'll see how chronically injured his knee is.
BarkatToronto Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I think the guy deserves a little more leeway, its like he goes a little cold, and the entire fan base turns on him. He will get hot again I think, Lets not make the mistake that the pirates made with Bautista or the Reds made with Encarnacion

I agree, I don't want Utley, unless we get him as a salary dump. All his remaining years are vesting options, so he'd only be extended if he's healthy anyway.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Were talking about a guy with an .876 OPS even with his current slump and 1.2 War. He has done a fine job so far and 3B/2B is the least of our worries right now. I'd give him until mid July at least before assessing the infield.

Slot Machine Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 We start looking for another left handed hitting infielder to platoon with Tolleson?

He will get hot again I think, Lets not make the mistake that the pirates made with Bautista or the Reds made with Encarnacion I think it depends on whether he makes the adjustments they need him to make. Teams have figured out the giant glaring hole in his swing, so either Francisco has to develop the ability to lay off that breaking stuff, or figure out how to hit it. There will still be the mistake pitches that he'll crush, but they'll become fewer and further between if he doesn't adjust. More time is needed to see if he can do it
