i see the probable pitchers as

Buerhle

--offday--

Hutch

Dickey

Happ

--undecided, but probably stroman--

Buehrle

am i missing something, or shoudl we be skipping happ against detroit? and if the idea was to give hutch extra rest, why not let dickey pitch on normal rest and give hutch one more day?? the timing of this offday and stroman's regular turn gives up the rare opportunity to skip both hendriks and happ, and i think we should take advantage of it..

Buehrle

--offday--

Dickey

Hutch

Stroman

Buehrle

now i think gibby might be wanting to slide hutch between our two soft tossers, but that doesn't change the fact that we should be skipping happ against detroit.

Welcome :)

I'd love to arrange the rotation so that it includes Shields and not Happ. Hope Hutch isn't hurt though.

Happ will not be skipped. I don't even think Hendriks getss skipped. I also doubt Stroman stays with the MLB club for now.

Keep Dickey and Buehrle on regular rest, they are our big inning eaters and we need them to help save the pen. Hutch should be given extra days to try and preserve his arm for later in the season. I would love to see them skip a start of his a couple times this season as well. It's nice to want to win, but we can't just burn him out when he is one of our few good young arms.

You don't waste another option!!!

Options are yearly, during that year you can call up and send the guy down constantly and it is STILL only 1 option

And yes Stroman,s start was to be a one off then back to AAA. however they may rethink that.

hmm interesting!

so technically he could stay up the entire season and we option him back at the end of every start for an extra reliever, etc.?

why don't more major league clubs do this?

You keep Stroman up for the time being and keep giving him starts until he has a bad outing.

It's kind of stupid to keep him only until he has a bad outing. Either send the guy down, or don't. Don't send him down immediately after a bad start... You can't forget that these players are actually human beings, and the fear of being demoted after a single poor start could be overwhelming for young players like Stroman, who have already been criticized and doubted for other uncontrollable factors, like his height. We already f***ed around enough with players in the past (like Snider) and even the Nolin thing was stupid. Stroman has good potential and he's been called "near-MLB-ready" since the day he was drafted. Show him that you're behind him and have confidence in him, and let him loose. If he f***s up one or twice, show him that you still have faith in him. Yeah if he starts to string together poor starts (3 in a row), you can say "you have to go back to triple-A to work on this" but demoting him after one bad start is just going to make him lose confidence and make him paranoid.

This is pretty much why I was against putting him in the bullpen in the first call up. It's not like they have this great starting rotation where there's hardly room for a rookie pitcher to take one of the spots. Other than their best and most ready pitching prospect, they have Happ who's a 5th starter and no more and Hendriks who's a AAAA pitcher or maybe better suited for long relief/spot starts.

Anyway, I just don't like the way they've handled him.

Stroman back to AAA and Hendricks here until he proves otherwise. It's not like we have anymore depth after those guys.

Hendriks has options though, there's no reason to keep him here if he's not the best option. And while I like Hendriks, he's not the best option. They need to stick with Stroman.

If that's true, get him on some meds for his mental infirmities and hire a personal therapist to travel with him, watch Teletubbies by his side, give him big hugs when he's feeling blue, and to tell him that he's good enough, he's smart enough, and gosh darn it, people like him. While you demote him.

Again, you're trying way, way too hard. I'd tell you that you're just making yourself look pathetic at this point, but there's no way that you don't already know that by now.

Hendriks will move to the pen.

this seems like it would be an awful move, seeing as he provides depth for our rotation and has options

i think the send down to AAA was the correct one--keep him stretched out until injuries or implosions warrant another few spot starts
