flafson Verified Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Our starting pitchers are the best in the AL East in pretty much everything, there is some sense to it.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Sanchez would surely look good in the Cubs system.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Sanchez would surely look good in the Cubs system. Jays trade him and turns out to be a good major leaguer, everyone who said he is a bust here will talk badly about AA saying he made a stupid trade. All the while forgetting they shitted on him while he was here
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 The price to get Samardzija is going to be quite steep. If the Cubs would be willing to do a deal around Sanchez i would be all for it, i still think they ask for both Stroman and Sanchez though.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I think a more realistic target should be Brandon McCarthy. He has bad traditional statistics ( 1-6, 5.01) and plays on a team with a dumb GM. With a FIP of 3.85 and an xFIP of 2.73 he could be a nice addition. Plus with Arizona in dead last and him being a free agent you would think he would be very available.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 If we get a starting pitcher I we'd have a pretty good shot to win this division. 85 wins could very well take it.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Safe to say that most of the board is off the Sanchez bandwagon? That walk rate is a huge cause for concern tho.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 "They came close to signing Ervin Santana before he went to Atlanta. Mark Buehrle is off to the best start of his career, with a 7-1 record at a 2.04 ERA. R.A. Dickey and Drew Hutchison have held their own despite 4.50 ERAs, but all other Jays starters are over 5.00. The Blue Jays should strike early and try to land Samardzija, and without dealing top pitching prospects Aaron Sanchez and Marcus Stroman. Perhaps an offer of left-handed pitcher Daniel Norris, right-handed pitcher Roberto Osuna and third baseman Mitch Nay could get it done." Ugh, the mention of record and "Drew Hutchison (and Dickey) held their own despite 4.50 ERAs" early on doesn't seem to me like the author knows what they're talking about.

Maybe that second person in the analytics department will point this out to AA and Beeston "The Beest rides again!!!"

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I think if Daniel Norris, Roberto Osuna and Mitch Nay would get it done, then it already would be done. I'm pretty sure that's a terrible deal on our side.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I'm pretty sure that's a terrible deal on our side. You think? 1.5 years of Shark + Comp pick is alot of value. I would do Norris, Osuna and Nay.
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I'm pretty sure that's a terrible deal on our side. Not saying that it's not, however if the JAYS are sticking to the plan of taking a run at the playoffs while they see a window, then I believe they would make a deal like this. Especially since they keep their top 2 pitching prospects in Stroman and Sanchez.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Remember the Cubs got Olt, Grimm, Edwards and a couple PTBL's for a few months of Garza and no draft pick.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 AA will be counting on Morrow to act as reinforcement for the 2nd half.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I'm pretty sure that's a terrible deal on our side. I think the Cubs would hang up the phone if that was the offer.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Uh, let's not deal Norris. I see your point and Norris has been amazing this year. IMO, if you can get a pitcher like Samardzija for 3 prospects that haven't touched AA yet you do it.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 I think the Cubs would rightfully be asking for a huge package. Let's not forget what AA gave up in both the Marlins and Mets trades. The Cubs will continue to ask for Stroman, Sanchez ++ and I can't say I blame them. There are several teams that will be looking for a starter. Who knows, maybe the Rangers and Cubs make another deal.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Right now, mister Daniel Norris is a very sexy lefty prospect. Trade Sanchez and his +4.5 walks/9 (I love Aaron)

I wouldn't gut the farm to go all in unless it's for a truly elite player.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 I remember when everyone was ready to throw Norris in the garbage bin.
