I think it's our year to get lucky with injuries. I almost fell off of AA's jock last week but I'm right back on riding away like a whore. This is our year, time to get excited. McGowan is getting me hard, I'll take him over JJ any day. I'm popping wood over hutch daily. Dickey's makin my dicky move. The offence is solid!

I'm a homer, no doubt. Every year I feel we got a shot, and in baseball every team for the most part does. I like our chances this year as much as last, and last year I was confident the drought would end.

Seems like fan interest has fallen off significantly this off season. Only winning can fix that this year.

Of course, but I prefer the cautiously optimistic approach. I personally (as I imagine we all do, individually) get so disappointed when high expectations are not met. Meeting them halfway is much more palatable if they fail. Anything above that would be awesome, obviously.

Being cautious is a good thing. Some people hang their hat on anything and when things don't work out it's the end of the world. At the end of the day it's just a game and I prefer to enjoy it for what it is. Winning would be nice but it's never the end of the world.

I agree with you there. I'm just saying that curbing expectations this season is probably for the best lol. Not trying to be negative. Anything can happen, but the roster is not a lot different than last season.

Well I was against giving him the QO, and I am glad that AA didn't give it to him. Too many injuries.

Honestly, this team has likable players. I know people hate Lawrie but I personally like him quite a bit. Eddie and Hutch have been favorites of mine for a while, and I'm really f***ing rooting for Morrow as my favorite player. Then there's Reyes obviously, Bautista when he's not being a bitch, Lind's beard, D-Mac, etc. There are plenty of likable players for me, which makes watching an 81 win team bearable.

 

That and I will never ever stop watching the Blue Jays lol. I remember when I didn't post for a few weeks in the summer and everyone thought I was a bandwagoner. Lmao

Funny thing is, this team has a ton of talent. As bad as we are in certain aspects, it's not that far fetched that this team could contend. Yay for optimism.

Edwin, Reyes and Kawasaki are our only likeable position players to me. MAYBE Lind just because of the way he seems pretty honest in interviews.

 

Colby and Lawrie can be entertaining at times, but likeable... meh.

 

Arencibia leaving will go a long way towards me enjoying watching games this year though.

But yeah, I'm starting to have a good feeling about this team. Like the SP might actually work out. I have never seen a Jays team which such pitching depth...we have 8 starters. That's crazy. No aces, but a few of those guys could do things. Granted a lot of it is unproven, but there's always the chance that Rogers and Redmond can give us 12+ wins. Hutch, maybe 15+ if things really work out for him.

If he can't bounce back from this quickly I think hes done. This is last year he will get paid for what he use to do. Padres took what many thought was a good gamble. But they have paid him 8M just to look pretty.

 

I guess he kind of deflates the stereotype that big guys stay healthier. Hes about as big as it gets 6'7 255 and I think they're being flattering with his weight. I will miss watching him dominate. Last year was so depressing because I wanted him for so long.

I think given his medical history, this past season and years prior, coupled with very poor performance, all went into the decision not to QO him. To suggest it was one or the other seems kind of ridiculous don't you think?

There is no way the FO looked at a 6.2 ERA and that was the only reason they let him walk

 

It was a combination of accumulated injuries, estimatikn of high risk of same in 2014, and generally poor performance without a really good season since 2010, all vs the $ cost (14.3M in this case)
