  1. 1. Jimenez, Santana or 2nd round draft pick?

    • Ervin Santana
    • Ubaldo Jimenez
    • Neither of them; keep 2nd draft pick and slot money.

Our $/WAR is likely higher than market right now so why not I guess. Id project something like 2.0, 1.8, 1.5, 1.1 for 6.6 WAR.

Although I think Maholm would be a much better sign.

That projection seems low (just by the eye test, nothing more). If you think that's all he'll provide, going with a cheaper option makes sense. But what Ubaldo does have over those cheap options, is the 3+ WAR upside. The upside is important to me, even if its costs some cash.

Based on what errors lol?

Gose's -22.2 UZR/150 (small sample size alert but you get the point).

Do you know who else had an exact same UZR/150? Delmon f***ing Young.

Obviously defensive metrics have their flaws but when you combine the stats with the absolutely ridiculous mental mistakes/horrible throws... well.. it leaves a lot to be desired. People on here love to bash scouts and throw them under the bus but then they'll take their word as gospel when those very same scouts hype up their own prospects.

I see a great athlete who has no idea how to put it all together. Nothing more.

Gose is still young give him time, all the statements you made about gose I could make the case rasmus does the same thing, the guy doesn't get great jumps, has great speed but couldn't steal a base, throws like a girl. Jesus melky had 2 stolen bases!

Small sample size caveat indeed.

The truth is we really don't know yet. The tools are great and you can't scout jumps/reads from your couch.

For defensive metrics that sample size is so small it's may not even be worth mentioning his UZR/150.

It very much isn't. That's like assessing a starting pitcher based on like 30 innings pitched.

Your grammar has really come a long way Angie. Nice work.

Someone here recommended me "Rosetta Stone"

Now I love a little more the Tool's lyrics lol

lol "the Tool"

I approve of your taste in music.

"Prison Sex" reminds me of you; "Schism" reminds me of connorp lol

"Hooker with a penis" reminds me of the girl you're finding for connorp.

Stinkfist defines very well the macho latino ;)

Oral sex is half the sex!

How about Nobody . Tanaka is way too huge a risk at those $$$$ and besides none of the above makes Toronto a playoff team when they didn't fill the 4 other holes .

Melky is probably a bench player without the juice and top that coming off a major surgery . Goins is a bench player in the Johnny Mac mode . And they needed TWO top starters not just one .

I look at this team as an 81 win team . Add a starter and bring it to 84 wins . What would be the point .

You post like baseball is a predictable sport and you can slot in teams based on past individual performances. It isn't. Jays with Tanaka have very real playoff chances next year. Even with Santana they have chances. They may not be the strong chances, but they exist. As for needing two pitchers, they really don't, in a perfect world where there are more quality starters then jobs sure. But again, this is baseball.

If Tanaka wants to come here they should sign him. It's only a fiscal gamble, Rogers makes lots of money and they need a pitcher. Any decent durable starter will help this team tremendously. The odds that we will find one more reliable starter from our current guys ( Morrow, Stroman, Hutch, Rogers, Happ ) is no long shot, its quite decent. The odds we find two are not so decent, but it wouldn't shock me if Morrow and Stroman got it done, and Rogers and his durability means we should have 5 guys all year that can pitch.

Our hitting should be good next year. Lawrie and Reyes alone could be a substantial improvement, losing JPA is an improvement. Jays in all seriousness have every look of a bounce back team next season, coming off an injury plagued disappointing season where several key pitchers had bad years. How good that bounce is depends somewhat on adding one or two players still. I look at the roster and it's as good or better then most Jays teams for quite a few years now. So I refuse to write them off. You gave up already, if they do nothing much but miss the playoffs by 2 or 3 games you can do the what ifs at that time :).

There is only true interest from the Jays, Yankees, D-backs and maybe the cubs if they land Tanaka. Also the fact the Ervin is still out there brings down his value.
