fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 Awesome thread bro Epic Thanks! Carruth has Kratz at 6.7 RAA. That would have given him 1.4 fWAR in 218 PA last year. Kratz is at ~16.7 RAA/10000 pitches. Rasmussen was good at one point and then blew up last year idek. Lincoln is wholly replaceable. Basically Snider for these two. I doubt AA realizes it but for a minor deal this is really quite excellent. Holy s***, nice find! Wait, what the f*** are we gonna do with 3 catchers now? Navarro MLB, then Spring Training style elimination, Thole vs Kratz
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Kratz was in our organization from 2006-2008 yep. Now bring back Aaron Hill
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I remember Rasmussen when he was with Cole and Bauer on that 2010 UCLA finalist team. Undersized, throws some nice breaking stuff. Could be a lefty specialist if he fails as a back of the rotation guy. One thing I said about AA is true...he hates to have empty spots on his 40 man. He's on the 40 but he's got his options. We'll start him in Buffalo and if he fails he gets moved to the pen or off of the 40.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Best part about this is that we now have a Mennonite on the team. A totally untapped TV market in the majors.

You kidding, they'll probably both be DFA'd tomorrow as AA tries to sneak them through waivers, he does this every year pretty effectively
bzapple Verified Member Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Kratz isn't bad. I like him over Thole. But if its Navarro and Kratz who catches Dickey? I have to think one of them could manage it. I mean, not everyone can be as incompetent as JPA.
TRM Verified Member Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 It's funny without realizing it I actively suppressed the memories of JPA catching Dickey back in April. I know it was a colossal clusterf***, and the visual spectacle of it all should be remarkably memorable, but I cannot seem to access any memories of it happening in my mind. Talk about dealing with a traumatic experience.

Should have known right then and there... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlXi7JsGSVY
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 It would appear both Rasmussen and Kratz have options, so no danger of losing either of them.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 What the f*** is up with Steamer and catchers? Pretty much every catcher in baseball is projected to be a viable starter given enough playing time. Do they factor in the 'special' statistics for catcher's defense? I'm not good with sabermetrics, but aren't there special catching stats relating to catching defense (stolen runners, or some sort of special FIP?) and framing stats that are important for projections that they aren't taking into account?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I've already ordered my Kratz jersey. Beat me to it, damn you!

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I liked this move. Lincoln was a redundant piece..................of s***
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I like this deal Let's trade another redundant no-remaining-options reliever. It's fun!!
GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Yup. Nothing to not like about it. Right GD? Right. For a small deal this could really pay off.
Lawrie22 Verified Member Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I don't think much is lost between Lincoln and Rasmussen and I think Kratz is a better option in AAA than Nikeus or Jimenez to call up in case of an injury, so all in all id say it's a pretty good little trade.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I like it as a depth trade. He was a guy that you had to get rid of because of the no-options. Rasmussen is going to become the Jose Bautista for pitchers, book it.

Took my dog to the vet today and after spending 250 $$$ they told me she had Bone cancer and I have to put her down . FUUUUUCCCCCCK . I love that dog . Had her almost 16 years . Took her home ! Can't face putting her down today not that it is going to get any easier.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 That sucks Ken. Me and my fiancée rescued a pit bull and after we had him for about a year, we were out in a friends pasture picking rocks for her rock garden and the dog just took off running and wouldn't stop, something spooked him I guess because he wouldn't stop. He was lost for about 3 days but luckily a farmer spotted him in a yard with other dogs after we went out and dropped off pictures of him to every yard within a 10 mile radius....we were lucky and got him back. Those 3 days were hell not knowing if he was ok or not.

They talked us into doing it right then, and I am sorry we did. I should have waited . Maybe she might have had another month or maybe she might have lived another six months without pain. All I know is that I will never again have one of my animals put down in a vet's office. The least I can do is at least get one of the vets come to the house.

Given that AA had Thole in AAA to begin last season and that Thole did nothing after being brought up, I bet there's a very good chance Kratz is the backup and Thole is in AAA.

The_DH Verified Member Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I guess it's time to clean the 40 man roster. Too many players out of options.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 That's assuming he can catch Dickey. Doesn't have to be Kratz. Navarro could catch Dickey as well.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 They project defense and positional runs based on position/playing time. Framing isn't considered. All of their projections for catchers seem really high though. Ah, I see, thanks!
