Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 bumping the arencibia quits twitter thread the day arencibia is no longer a blue jay for the laughs many jpa fangirls will be angry ftfy
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 He f***ing better be. It's painfully obvious that he needs to be replaced and it now appears like he very well will be. Replacing JPA could end up being the most significant improvement when it's all said and done. Well, that and the trade for Max Scherzer, of course
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 JP will have one last mega outburst to the media before he leaves for Philadelphia Will be entertaining
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Wow, candid. Not a stretch to say JPA rubs him the wrong way, which really isn't surprising. I don't think that's what he meant at all. Gibbons would never call a player out for his attitude in the media. It was definitely in reference to his historically bad play and the media buzz that JPA will be replaced.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 JP will have one last mega outburst to the media before he leaves for Philadelphia Will be entertaining I think he is well aware what is going happening and I don't think you will hear a peep from him. Although he does not make very good decisions when it comes to the media.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Liz wants to f*** JPA. Also since we are boosting his trade value I would consider JPA for Brown. If we have too.

Gen.Disarray Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I know JP apparently loves this team and wants to be here, but I fully expect him to go on an emotional tirade and bash this org when he is traded. He'll probably sprinkle in a little thanks to all the "non-haters" and "real fans".

Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 does JPA mean real fans who luvz dem som dingerz and know that OBP dont matter if you're getting laid? The average fan thinks quite highly of JP, it's f***ing ridiculous.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I think at this point even the average fans know he sucks Some, but many still think we should keep him around. Most fans really don't know how bad he is. They hear him talk about his HR's and RBI's and they end up thinking he is a run producer. Outside of these boards most fans don't know much about any advanced stats, let alone wrapping their heads around basic stats like WHIP and OPS. It's really just a small percentage from my experiences.

admin Site Manager Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I think a lot of fans know he's brutal. You can't hit an under .200 batting average no matter how many HRs you hit. Cano Tanaka Ruiz Just do it!

No one can figure out why the Yankees didn't pony up for Martin either. Either there's something we don't know about, or a lot of teams screwed the pooch on that one.
over500 Verified Member Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 It'd hilarious to see JPA return to Rogers Centre and get a loud standing ovation, and JPA standing there feeling like a superstar. You know it's gonna happen.

I can understand Matt Harvey being loyal to him, he got free tickets out of the deal. AL East pitchers will also be saddened to miss out on JPA's generosity.

Either there's something we don't know about, or a lot of teams screwed the pooch on that one. Martin was the obvious choice... I think a lot of teams thought he was too beat up after the 12 season. he is top tier behind the plate and his bat is better than JPA's. Martin is a team guy all the way. he's the kind of guy we should want leading the team from behind the plate. JPA was barely a flash in the pan. his big first game was the highlight of his s***** career. the league figures out when the noobs are all or nothing hitters. I just hope some loser Gm and scout sees something in JPA so we can at least get something back.

"sorry coach, haven't seen him..."

The HR and RBI may be a bright spot, and people may think he's doing alright at offense, but there's no way with all those horrible passed balls that people can say he's an appropriate catcher. Up until him, the Jays have had a track record of catchers who can play decent defense. Casual fans should know he stinks behind the plate. At a bare minimum, I would expect most people to agree he should be relegated to DH/PH type of duties, even if that's not a particularly smart response.
