Kevin Durant requests a trade lol

NBA players are a different breed

A lot of top NBA players are drama queens and at the snap of their fingers, can demand trades or create their own super teams just like that. It's a superstar driven league.

You don't see it in the MLB or NHL. The NBA offseason is always fun though.

Raptors should put together a package for Durant.

I think I'd rather someone like Ayton or Nurkic (if they haven't signed yet). Durant is great, but the package to land him probably hurts us more than it helps us.

Wasn't one of his favourite players growing up Vince Carter?

I could picture Durant going to Toronto for sure. As someone said, not sure it’d be worth taking a stick of dynamite to the team though

A lot of people thought Leonard was going to be a drama queen, refuse to play his best, or be a cancer in the locker room, though quite the opposite.

Durant makes the Raptors contenders for the next 2 to 3 years for another NBA Championship. He's one of the top 5 players in the league. Would love to see the Raptors acquire him! Masai isn't afraid of making big bold deals. He did it with Leonard, I would love to see him do it with Durant.

Reasonably what would they have to give up though?

Barnes for sure + I'm assuming one of OG, Siakam or VanVleet + a bunch of draft picks I would imagine.

Also, Deandre Ayton and Rudy Gobert could be traded. One of them would be great fits on the Raptors as well.

This NBA offseason will be fun for sure!

Raptors sign Chris Boucher to three-year, $35.25M extension.

Nice to lock him up for another three more years. I think he has more upside for sure and was solid in the Playoffs. If he can take the next step and average 15PPG with 7-8 RBP, that would be sweet.

Ah yeah that doesn't seem like a good trade then

Wouldn’t even think on it but that’s just me.

Barnes, Siakam, multiple 1sts. And tbh, would do it.

Yeah but Durant is another load management guy. I mean, at least when you had KL, there were guys that could hold it down and win regular season games.

You’d be giving up your best secondary pieces. But I don’t know the Raps depth much I guess. If there’s guys that would step up

Barnes, Siakam, picks for KD

Thad, salary filler, pick swap for Poeltl

Poeltl

KD

OG

Trent

FVV

Porter

Boucher

Precious

Flynn

Add a wing who can shoot 3s and that would be a title contender. Maybe you find a way to get Joe Harris in the deal.

34 year old KD with an extensive injury history... nah. Maybe if we didn't just recently win a championship I would feel differently.

You aren't going to win a championship with Barnes and Siakam haha. Unless the Raps add another elite player or both Barnes/OG turn into Top 5-10 talents.

If the Raps get a chance at KD, do it! Even from a financial standpoint, the money, jersey sales, hype he would bring to the Raptors. Definitely worth it from a roster perspective and business perspective as well.

I don't care about Barnes. You would definitely have to trade him in the deal. I prefer trading Siakam over OG and VanVleet obviously. So it depends on who that second piece is with Barnes.

If he doesn’t break lol. But yeah, could be a great gamble

He played 55 games last season. If you can load management with him like the Raps did with KL, and ride him hard in the Playoffs, don't see that being an issue. Play him 60-65 games, sit him back-to-backs or against teams that really suck. I'll take that gamble.

I just disagree on Barnes. Love him.

I'd sell high on Siakam though

Utah seems to do smart thing selling superstar. Can’t imagine what KD gets lol.

But Utah didn’t seem to be capable of getting to next level. Better to take the crane to it I guess

Yes I know. My head says go for it. I would still be sad if Barnes is traded though. I always wanted to see a homegrown superstar to play on the raptors for 10+ years. I know chances of Barnes becoming a superstar is probably not greater than 10 percent but I still don't feel good about this.

I love Barnes as well, though I would imagine any trade for KD has to include him. Barnes will be a solid player moving forward no doubt, though very small chance he becomes a superstar who could carry a team.

I agree on Siakam as well. Sell high after he had a rebound season and free up some money from his contract as well. Last year at this time his contract was looking like a disaster. If Durant comes in, no need for Siakam anyways.

I love Barnes, I think he can be a Top 30 player. I don’t think Barnes will ever be the best player on a championship team, or if by the time he is, he’ll have gone somewhere else. Windows are small in the NBA. The FVV/OG core has a couple years left to be a contender but the Raps need that elite Top 5 player to make it a reality.

Posted
I’d also say that a Durant-OG-FVV core would be a much better title contender than a KD-Kyrie-Simmons core (if they ever even all played at the same time).
