jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Issah Thomas is a better player than Kyrie and now the Cavs can use that pick to pick up another star at the deadline lol
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Issah Thomas is a better player than Kyrie and now the Cavs can use that pick to pick up another star at the deadline lol I think Thomas is also a free agent in 2018, so they're basically trading 2 years of Kyrie for one of Thomas. That's probably the reason for the difference.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 I think Thomas is also a free agent in 2018, so they're basically trading 2 years of Kyrie for one of Thomas. That's probably the reason for the difference. Yeah Thomas is an UFA at the end of the season (as is LeBron if he declines his player option). If LeBron leaves, then they don't resign Thomas and have a ton of cap room plus a likely top 5 pick from the Nets to rebuild. If he stays that pick could be traded for a Thomas replacement - Thomas will be 29, and because of his height is even more of a defensive liability than Irving. Someone is going to regret giving him a free agent contract.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 I like the deal more for the Cavs but I see why the Celtics did it. Kyrie is a much better long term asset than Thomas. The criticism I have for Ainge is how bad this deal looks when compared to the Jimmy Butler deal. They could have got Butler for much much less than what they gave up for Kyrie. This is a good deal for the NBA though. Might actually be worth tuning in to the Eastern Conference playoffs for the first time in a while when the improved Cs take on the Cavs in what should a rivalry.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Even without Thomas that's a pretty good deal for the Cavs.

Maybe, but.. the top 2 in the east are still the same..... the top 3 in the west are still the same.... even with movement of some pretty big names.... the top still looks pretty much the same
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Apparently the Irving - Thomas trade may be scuttled due to one of the physicals.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Apparently the Irving - Thomas trade may be scuttled due to one of the physicals. Its Thomas and his hip. Although if I'm the Cavs I probably still make the deal. Even without Thomas that deal was pretty good considering the circumstances.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 I somehow completely missed this, but the D league is now rebranded as the G league. NBA teams can have up to 2 players with their G league affiliate who can be up to 45 days on the NBA roster without counting towards the cap. Makes the G league more like a true minor league system, just need the few NBA teams that don't already have an affiliate to sort one out.
baseballsss Verified Member Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Melo to OKC. Damn Wedtbrook gunna rack assists up
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 You can grab the Raptors winning their division on almost every site at over 5 to 1. OKC winning the west at 15 to 1 seems decent as well

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 Whats GS at? Can't imagine it's anything other than even or worse 1.35. Seems like a bad 8 month investment to me.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 The Raptors play a preseason game tonight at 10 (Sportsnet One).
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 1.35. Seems like a bad 8 month investment to me. Future bets you really need the odds to be good for it to be worthwhile. Just having your money gone for almost a year is a loss in itself.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 Probably better putting money down on teams like Boston, Cleveland, OKC, Houston or San Antonio. At least you get better odds.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 1.35. Seems like a bad 8 month investment to me. Or it's a great investment if you're a hedge fund looking to report a 35% gain in next year's fund performance and take the year off. It wouldn't surprise me the least bit if another one of these Madoff types tried to pull off that kind of s***.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Raps extend Norman Powell for 4/42. This seems like an incredible deal for us.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Seems like a took a paycut to sign here long term
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Basically TRoss money.
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Hayward just f***ed himself. Good lord that's hard to look at.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 I wouldnt be surprised if the Raptors or Wiz take the #1 seed.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 I wouldnt be surprised if the Raptors or Wiz take the #1 seed. I thought this was a possibility even before the injury. The Celtics are overrated.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 I thought this was a possibility even before the injury. The Celtics are overrated. It's possible, but it would still take monumental injuries on the Celtics and Cavs or just catastrophic failure in order for it to happen. The Raps shooting guard still can't shoot a 3 ball.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 LeBron just said he's out of shape in the post-game interview after he just dropped 29/16/9 on the first game of the season. That's terrifying.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Warriors-Rockets is more entertaining than any NFL game I've watched in the last 2 years. NBA <3
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 PJ Tucker is a beast. Too bad the Raps couldn't have kept him. I think I'd rather have had him at 4/35 than Ibaka at 3/60.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 I thought this was a possibility even before the injury. The Celtics are overrated. Sure it was, but it's a more likely scenario now.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 I thought this was a possibility even before the injury. The Celtics are overrated. They do have the best coach in the EC though which makes a difference.
