Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Rios a cancer in the clubhouse. Do not want. Konerko would cost virtually nothing and is the good veteran bat needed.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Konerko would cost virtually nothing and is the good veteran bat needed. His bat is vetrin, but it ain't good. 87 wRC+ and a .305 wOBA. Unfortunately, it looks like Konerko finally collapsed. Only took him 17 f***ing years lol.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 What about Carlos Ruiz from the Phillies? He's a soon-to-be free agent, having a bad season, coming off a late start due to suspension, but he's been averaged 3WAR as a catcher for the last 4 years and is solid defensively.
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Apparently Rios has grown up a lot, though I can't speak to it. Having him in RF, Jose in LF and Rasmus in CF would look good. Melky is hobbling and Lawrie is always hurt.

KSaw Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 last thing the jays need is to make the team older. lol Moot point because he's not here but I doubt that any manager would take the best defensive outfielder on a club and stuck him in left.
imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Rickie Weeks or Chase Headly?
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I think Weeks is pretty much done.
SantosLHalper21 Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I like the thought of Jake Peavy actually. The White Sox might want a quality starter prospect and a decent bat...I was thinking of Drabek+Bonifacio+Sierra or Drabek+Bonifacio+Carreno for Peavy. Peavy would give us yet another starter but also gives us insurance in case Josh Johnson bolts. With him out until the AllStar break, the addition of Peavy to the pitching staff would be huge for the second half of the year. Like they say, you win with quality pitching and defence, not power hitting.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Rickie Weeks or Chase Headly? If we trade for Rickie Weeks my head is going to explode I was thinking of Drabek+Bonifacio+Sierra or Drabek+Bonifacio+Carreno for Peavy. .. The White Sox have to agree to this too, so I wouldn't get my hopes up on this Like, you know these guys are trash, it stands to reason they'd know that too
Tuco Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Garza looks to be starting to pitch well. I wonder what the cost for him would be and apparently the Jays were interested in him last year. Would Sean Nolin and Stilson be enough? too much?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I wonder if the Marlins would sell off Rob Brantly.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 We need a 2B and Utley seems the logical choice if healthy. I bet that's going to be AA's big trade deadline splash.
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I think Weeks is pretty much done. He is young enough and talented enough to rebound but today, right now, I'd rather de Jesus Jr. from the Pirates. I get that it's only AAA but he's just mashing and the home run pop is legit. So what if he is a late bloomer!
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 The Cubs Nate Schierholtz is certainly worth a look. If Melky can't play, a Schierholtz/ Davis platoon in left would be solid.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 make a run for this package Cliff Lee + Chase Utley + Carlos Ruiz IMO these 3 players fill our 3 biggest needs
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 make a run for this package Cliff Lee + Chase Utley + Carlos Ruiz IMO these 3 players fill our 3 biggest needs No Thanks, I prefer having a farm system...

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Chase Headley please. Perfect buy-low candidate. So underrated. Career .295/.366/.453 away from Petco.
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Chase Headley please. Perfect buy-low candidate. So underrated. Career .295/.366/.453 away from Petco. Underrated how? He's going to get $100 million + and 6 years. The Padres owner wants to keep him and if they do trade him (which Rosenthal believes, while many don't), they will want the equivalent of the first round pick talent they'd give up in the lost compensation pick, plus a MLB player and a top prospect. If you're AA do you give up Stroman, Gose and Loup to get him?
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 (edited) Actually, that probably wouldn't be close to enough. He is under control for 2014. It's been reported that the Padres would expect more in return than what they got for Mat Latos. Edited June 23, 2013 by KSaw

KSaw Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 The jays have interest in Edinson Volquez Then they should just wait until he hits waivers.
bzapple Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Same as in the offseason, I just don't see the Padres trading Headley. They're starting to develop a really nice offensive core that's worth keeping together while they try and bring in some pitching.
bzapple Verified Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 make a run for this package Cliff Lee + Chase Utley + Carlos Ruiz IMO these 3 players fill our 3 biggest needs I just can't see them taking on Lee's contract.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I just can't see them taking on Lee's contract. It had better be for Drabek, RR and Happ 'cause I don't want them giving up anymore of their farm which is looking a bit better of late with the emergence of Jimenez and Burns.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Another package of players that id like to see would be from the Brewers. Yovani Gallardo / Aramis Ramirez / Jonathon Lucroy Not sure Lucroy could be had, but definately the other two for the right price. And who do you suggest the Blue Jays trade for that type of package, let alone one or two of those guys?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 We need a 2B and Utley seems the logical choice if healthy. I bet that's going to be AA's big trade deadline splash. +1 Utley seems like the perfect fit if healthy. He likely won't demand the prospects/players of a Kinsler or other names being mentioned like Lucroy on here. He'd be a nice fit on this team.
