Boni is easily replaced with Kawasaki, when Lawrie comes back Izzy as well - but replacing J.P is a little more difficult.

Is it that hard? Theres prolly vet catchers out there who you could aquire who give solid D and will sport a better OBP.

I mean we picked up Yorvit Torreabla last season for nothing and hes prolly better then JP.

There is probably guys very similar, but unless it's a significant improvement it won't matter much. Blanco plays great D and everybody hated him.

Blanco has prolly the worst bat in the league.

Heck the guy Boston played tonight (#3 on depth chart) is prolly better then anyone we have.

I totally forgot we had Yorvit Torealba last year.

Came and went in like 3-4 days. Hahaha. That's when AA was working the waiver wire overtime.

I doubt it.

Exactly, it's not hard to replace the two worst starters in the division. That's what below-replacement level players are all about, they can be replaced fairly easily.

Who would you replace J.P with?

I'd trade for one of the Cubs guys, Navarro or Castillo. Both are having okay years and would come fairly cheap. One half-decent prospect.

You have no idea how cheap they are, if I'm the cubs gm and I know your desperate the price goes up.

I told you before, there are no intelligent sports fans who would care to talk to this PHONY CLOWN who over and over again insults Blue Jays fans as if we are imbeciles. Hence only stupid callers who hope to have a epitat on their graves that said, "I was once heard on the radio" BTW whats all this big deal about July 1? Are we forgetting, Independence Day falls on July 4th!

Sorry Canadians, I FORGOT tomorrow is the big holiday here in Canada. You Canadians are too patriotic! Any old how, ya-all have a wonderful holiday!

Since the Happ trade, I have no clue what AA considers a cheap price. It seems ever since that trade, he just accepts what the GM he's dealing with tells him the price for a player is and he does it and it's overwhelmingly been an overpayment. He accepted to give up quite a bit in the Marlins trade given the salaries coming back and then just went along with Alderson's request for 2 top prospects for a 38 year old FA-to-be. So if Epstein insisted on a top prospect for one of those guys, I wouldn't be surprised if AA went along to get along.

This thread looks like a carbon copy of another thread. The man(Mike) is obviously stupied, when someone says, the Jays should always be nice to their super-stars, today Bauistisa and Cabreaa, and about five years ago Vernon Wells. Wells was never the Mickey Mantle of Toronto, and neither is Melkey. In fact Davis would be my first pick for left field, not Melkey, he drinks too much milk. We need tough guys on this team, not a bunch of milk drinkers.

It's a trajic tale. Once upon a time there was a fiesty blue jays radio host... Surprisingly fiesty considering he looked like a dough boy (sorry Wilner buddy, but it's true). Living the dream. Nice family, nice house, great, great job. He was a heck of a guy and spoke up for the fans. He knew the fans (atleast some of the educated ones) didn't like Cito Gaston. So for us he took a stand and told Cito off.

Rogers then put the muzzle on him. He got a suspension and hasn't been the same since. Now just basically a tub of glue spouting happy goofy pro-rogers propaganda.

This is true. Wilner has become more of a corporate shill over the past few years. His cherry picking of stats to advance his agenda is silly.

What the f***. Can we ban this idiot?

He's very knowledgeable........but I haven't listened to him since the Gaston debacle, he was obviously told to rub the Jays orgs nutz. Sad really.

Plus I feel sorry for him with the majority of callers, that no f*** all.

Yes Wilner has to listen to some fans that are not knowledgeable but that's his job. Wilner has to start being more realistic about the Jays players. JPA is not a #toptencatcher. Bonifacio does not know how to bunt. Josh Johnson does not deserve a 7 year 150 million contract. Wilner has to wake up & realize that the team is at 500. They are underperforming their expectations.

It's a theory that has gained popularity, but I don't think Wilner has changed one bit. His agenda isn't to be a corporate shill -- it is to be the proverbial big fish in a small pond. He's a small man who gets satisfaction from patronising callers, securing followers, and 'winning' arguments, whilst being a sycophant to his media friends and the baseball fraternity (you can actually detect a change in his tone of voice).

I'd be totally on board with those who champion Wilner if I felt he was genuinely interested in being rational and reasonable. But to call him a contrarian is to give him too much credit because contrarians do tend to be interested in searching for the truth. Wilner will break his own rational-and-reasonable mantra to commit any number of logical fallacies when he lines up against a caller. The only ones who survive are those who agree with his stated talking points of the night and/or give him a pat on the back.

A am a big fan of Wilner. Your thoughts are pretty much bang on though. What can I say.... some people I like have flaws.

When I get the chance I listen to Jays games on the at bat ap on the iphone. It sometimes keeps going when Mike takes calls... however seems to often cut him off early. So I rarely get to listen to him... or sometimes only a few minutes. Guess I should get the fan 590 app... looked for one a year ago but couldn't find it.

Last year some guy used to call from down south in the states... and was a huge colby guy... it was always funning listening to them banter. Not sure if it was a relative of Colby's, or just a guy who watched him in high school. Anyway this is what Wilner can be good at when he tries... establishing a warm relationship and good repotoire with some callers.

I guess I've never been exposed to his bad side that much. Don't get the chance to listen all that often. I also got on his bandwagon during the Cito episode. I want to attribute his flaws to the aftermath of CitoWilnerGate... but who knows. Maybe he is just flawed.

Gotta feel for a guy who atleast once a year has to explain why a left handed thrower can't play second... or third, or short for that matter.

I know atleast once a year... probably more someone suggested moving Snider or Lind to another infield position. I mean not only have to explain that a transition from 1st (or left) to 3rd or 2nd would be really hard... but have to start with the whole left handed thing.

Learn something every day.

I will be phoning Wilner tomorrow with trade Lawrie for Brandon Belt suggestion. Move Belt to third.

I will be armed with the Mike Squires example when he tries to argue with me about it.

Thanks.

One caller got into a huge fight with Wilner yesterday over JPA. He demanded that Wilner provide 5 reasons why JPA was a very valuable catcher.

Wilner was caught off guard & talked about his HR's.

It was fun to listen to. Wilner is usually on the offense.

Anyone holding out hope for much better post game show on the score... I suggest tuning in some where else... First segment... and I quote.. Arencibia to me has a chance to be an Allstar. A perennial Allstar.

I turned to that channel and the first thing I heard was that. Never watching it again...

Was it Eric Smith? He thought Derozan and Barganani would be all-stars too,

It's a shame that Parkes and Stoeten no longer do that post-game live video stream. Only lasted a while, but the criticisms were spot-on. A big difference from the lazy writing at DJF that beats the fan pinata.

I think his last name was O'Hallaren or something.

What the f***ing f***? This forum could s*** out a better podcast than anything done in the last decade by the Toronto media.

We should do a weekly one. Seriously. Well, almost.
