SAAviour Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Do you think anyone would take Romero if the jays put him on waivers? Salary: 2013 $7,500,000 2014 $7,500,00 2015 $7,500,000 Maybe a team desperate for pitching thinks they can turn him around. Angels? I love the guy, but I think he's done. He'd likely go unclaimed and we could at least clear a 40 man spot while he goes back to A ball to work on things.
Rajaifailedgrade1 Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I don't care if nobody picks him up he can rot in the minors, just get rid of him. Can't let this turdball pitch another game for us...
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 We can demote him without requiring passing through waivers. He had an option left for this year.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Send him back to the minors for a few months. It was dumb to bring him up and even the dumbest of fans knew that.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Back to the minors until he truly has found himself. Right now he's just a train wreck and only hurting us.
BluejayEd Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 It was ridiculous to have here in the first place. Let's call him up only to have his last shot of confidence be totally destroyed,
SAAviour Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 Give Lincoln a shot? Make me feel better about trading Snider!
Rajaifailedgrade1 Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Change the R to a D in the title, and I would still agree.
admin Site Manager Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Yup. He was sent down to work on things, and shouldn't have been brought back after one start. The problem now: who the f*** starts games for this team? JJ is hurt, Happ is hurt - We have Dickey, Morrow, Buehrle the gas can, and nothing in the 4 or 5 slots. We went from contemplating putting Happ in the minors because there was no room, to this. Unbelievable. I like the idea of Arrieta.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I like the idea of Arrieta. All aboard the Arrieta bandwagon! Lol I'm gonna keep pushing this
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 you give him the next start. If he fails you move him to the pen and try to get Lincoln to start. This team doesn't have the luxury of having others who can start. After that Happ might be back and Johnson and then you have Jenkins, Romero and Redmond (hopefully, know nothing about his injury) competing in the minors for starts (or being brought up and down for spot starts, eating some much needed innings). Another possibility is a Happ type trade. Picking up a starter/middle reliever with options.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 You send him to AAA. IF anyone offers to take him on, you dump him for free. He looks done as a major league starter. I remember when many of the posters here said Aaron Hill was done.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Send him back to the minors for a few months. It was dumb to bring him up and even the dumbest of fans knew that. this^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ AA probably cost Romero half the season by setting him back while he was getting sorted out. AA needs to get off his park bench and get involved. move forwards or move backwards, there is not standing still.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Jays were hoping to get lucky calling him up. He is not in the plans the only reason he got called up is for value, and that is now gone. Keep him in the minors, stupid baseball and the guaranteed money.. the sport would be much better without it he wasn't called up for value. he was called up because JJ is missing starts. instead of making a real move AA brought up a guy who wasn't close to ready.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I think Hutch will be ready before Romero I think my 5 year old son will be ready before Romero.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I think my 5 year old son will be ready before Romero. Romero was actually very good the first 3 innings and then he fell off a cliff. he's not mentally ready and bringing him up was a huge mistake. jays are in trouble because AA didn't make a move to bring in a legit 6th starter when it was obvious to everyone that Romero was damaged goods. now he has the same problem as last year. if anyone gets hurt they are screwed. until Hutch and Drabek come back they dont have any options unless AA makes a move.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Romero shouldn't be anywhere near the MLB team unless AA is conceding the season. It was obvious last season when he had those severe control issues that something wasn't right with him. He followed that with an atrocious spring and people were still singing his praises and hoping Happ would be the one sent down. I didn't get it then and I still don't. The guy is just not right, we know it, the organization knows it and yet here he is in the majors costing us games that we simply cannot afford to lose. If we don't have viable options in AAA, well then it's pretty clear AA s*** the bed on this. We literally have nothing.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 until Hutch and Drabek come back they dont have any options unless AA makes a move. That's the troubling part. AA almost has to go out and get a SP over the next couple days or were probably running Romero and Gonzalez out there for the next while. He needs to find some cheap options, because there is zero point in trading away any meaningful prospects with where this team currently is. I still think we have a chance to get back into this thing, but it needs to be done via cheap patchwork and not at the cost of further hindering the future, because lets be honest here, this team has several holes and were not going to be able to fix them all.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I thought Ricky was pitching injured, but they kept trotting him out and back from AA.. No diagnosis yet, Ricky used to be dominant He was apparently not 100% last season, but unless they are lying about his health again, he is not the same pitcher he once was. Also, he was never really dominant. He was pretty good, but not dominant. Some luck played a role in his 2011 season.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 What a nightmare this Romero situation has become for the team New avatar chosen
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 He has to get at least one more start, there really is no other options at this point with JJ and Happ on the DL. I'd probably only consider Vargas or Jenkins at this point and I really wouldn't want to see them here for an extended period. I really hope Ricky can get his s*** together cause this team could really use the old Ricky Romero.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I'd probably take a look at Jenkins after seeing how his next start goes.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I think my 5 year old son will be ready before Romero. Greenwood has children? God help us all, lol.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 If we don't have viable options in AAA, well then it's pretty clear AA s*** the bed on this. We literally have nothing. Worse depth: This year or last year?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Worse depth: This year or last year? Villaneueva was good depth last year But we were counting on Cecil and Drabek as starters so it's hard to compare...
Caper Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I'd take a huge gamble and bring Stroman up to pitch.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Send him back to the minors for a few months. It was dumb to bring him up and even the dumbest of fans knew that. While I agree. Most fans would be complaining about some minor league scrub getting the call as well.
