It'd be awesome if he hit the ball more often because he's pretty good at making baseballs go far. Players who stay healthy are pretty cool when they are decent for their positions. Keep it up Colby. No dive like last year please. Lind no dive like 2 (?) years ago please.

Don't you just love this guy?

And what happens if Gose can't hit his weight in the majors? I think many here don't realize how valuable Rasmus actually is.

And Colby has never had a problem hitting his weight???

What about moving him to LF and having Gose in CF? Do you think that would give us a strong enough outfield?

Only if Melky could bring back a legit asset, as Jose to DH/trade isn't even remotely plausible right now I don't think.

So Rasmus is now 17th in the bigs in terms of WAR and the fourth most valuable CF behind only Trout, Gomez and Cutch.

FA after next year. Likely going to reach 5 WAR this year.

One of the top priorities for this offseason is to extend Colby. Gose is a massive bust. Alex do NOT f*** this up.

Wait what? Did Sportsnet seriously bring up WAR? I'm shocked.

Well, Colby has a low batting average and stuff and it's a stat that makes him look good. They'd never bring up WAR for JPA.

Didn't you hear? AA is waiting until midseason next year to extend Rasmus, likely while he's having another good season. He knows what he's doing, waiting until players get more expensive before re-signing them. He probably has absolutely no clue about how valuable Rasmus has been this year (and last for that matter.)

They have over a year to work something out. No sense in buying high on the .371 BABIP right now.

If there's anything that Anthopoulos has been consistently good at, it's extensions.

Yeesh.

Colby had a BABIP of .354 over an entire season in 2010. It may be a bit high now, but when the guy is on like he's on right now I think the BABIP is going to be up in that abnormally high range.

His batted ball profile suggests that this .371 BABIP isn't as fluky as it looks, however, his LD% has never been this high.

Which one is the true Rasmus!!??

Nobody babips .370 true talent in the big leagues.

Is he exceptionally "on", or is your perception of him perturbed by the batted ball luck? You can believe whatever you want, I don't know what's right, but i think an objective, regressed, and less narrative laden view of Colby has him as a player who hits for a much lower average, true talent.

It's beside the point anyway. Regardless of his true babip skills, buying right now would be buying wayyyyy high, and needlessly so since he has another year of control.

My hope, eventually, would be for a team friendly good will extension like the one Yunel signed.... And then hopefully Alex won't punt him away for nothing at the first down swing.

Wow... the same Rasmus... everyone hated a year ago.... everyone now loves.

I don't think any smart posters here ever "hated" him.

Hard9 is an idiot.

All of them are.

It actually isn't possible to even have a discussion with them. Sanchize hasn't trolled at all, is making valid posts, and is still being called an idiot.

sobchaksecurity is kind of amusing.

LOL. Learn the stats before you attack others with them.

Lol, didn't even have to look to know it was sobchaksecurity. Same guy that said Rasmus wasn't aiming his line drives last year.

Well then.

Umm...yeah.

That guy is nuts but at least he's sort of amusing.

The MLB forum is now almost unbearable to read after switching over to this forum format.

Plus, the ignorance in those posts make it even worse. I have a head ache now.

"That is where the difference lies.

For it to work out well for Toronto, in the eyes of Cardinals fans, the Bluejays will have to win some hardware.

Without that, he's the same loser."

Stuff likes this makes me really appreciate the fact that this is one of the best baseball communities on the net.

I kind of wish they traded OT for some middling reliever and they went on to win the WS.

"Because, unlike you idiots, we don't care about a player's individual statistics if he doesn't help contribute to the team winning. Who cares if Colby is having a semi-decent season? What's he doing to help his team win? Nothing."

It legit bothers me that people like this exist.

Not even remotely surprised by what they're saying

"sachmo55 replied to a thread Rasmus is underrated in Toronto Blue Jays Forum - Meh, they'll just make fun of the playoff-less jays and say the rasmus would suck if the jays were in a playoff race"

The cardinals board is delusional, and this is supposed to be a baseball town....this really is a strong forum, more appreciated by me when I see that junk.
