Why would you say less flashy stuff. Nolin has no plus pitches. Boyd might have one

What is Boyd's plus pitch? His FB? I don't think it's any better than Nolins' but I really liked Nolin's changeup and pitch mix. Seemed like he'd be able to get K's at the MLB level; haven't seen enough of Boyd this year to have a strong opinion one way or another but form the reports it seems as if he isn't going to miss very many bats.

With all that being said I think Boyd is the better prospect and at this point far more likely to have an MLB career just based on the FB command alone.

Boyds fastball is 92-94 T95, I don't think Nolin ever reached that kind of velocity. More like 89-92 T93.

Boyd's FB sits a little higher but Nolin can and has hit 95mph as well

Anyone going to go the Pan AM Games this summer? The talent is usually pretty good and there should be some good prospects playing in it. Checked over the 2011 rosters and Cuba had Castillo and Jose Abreu in it which is pretty impressive.

I was hoping to but I heard the games are out in Oshawa or somewhere. Idk if that's true

Ajax which isn't that far from Toronto. I wonder how big the seating is though because a lot of the Preliminary games are sold out already.

They're in Ajax. I might drive up with a friend to see Cuba play a game or two.

Even Canada and US rosters will probably be decent. I bought tickets to both SemiFinal games. Figured the best team will make so should be exciting.

Got tickets for Christmas. Unfortunately I think it's for the Canada/US game. Would have loved to see Cuba.

DJ Davis 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. Now hitting .292. Strikeouts still high, but improving. It really isn't too late for him to start figuring things out.

Where do you buy them, and are they sold out?

Matt Boyd is supposedly in this article. Someone post?

Not exactly a ringing endorsement of Matt Boyd from BP today

@_ClintB_ It sounds somewhat fair, though there have been mentions elsewhere he's boosted his velocity.

Anyone?

Also, Richard Urena is in this article: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=26563

Conner Greene pitched very well yesterday.

Still flying under the radar despite having a very good season in Lansing.

Richard Urena, SS, Blue Jays (Lansing, A-): 2-4, R, 2 2B. Urena is handling his first full-season challenge well, though there are still a lot of wrinkles to iron out. He’s showing off good power, especially for a player without imposing size, and driving the ball consistently despite a propensity to expand the strike zone. He has no approach just yet, and his plate discipline has fallen apart against better pitching, but he’s still just 19 so some of that is to be expected and can be corrected. There is still some major bust potential with Urena, but there’s also quite a bit of boom.

Pitcher of the Day: Matt Boyd, LHP, Blue Jays (New Hampshire, AA): 8 1/3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, BB, 6 K. Boyd is an unspectacular prospect currently getting by with an advanced repoitre, and doing a darn good job of it. Unfortunately, despite what his numbers suggest, his lack of an above-average pitch doesn’t project well against better competition. There’s a future there for anyone who throws a ton of strikes as Boyd does, and he misses enough bats to project some success, but the numbers have been inflated by being more advanced than every level of competition he’s faced. The profile isn’t exciting, but he’s a guy who can help the Jays in some capacity soon.

Richard Urena, SS, Blue Jays: When the Jays dealt away Franklin Barreto in last offseason’s Josh Donaldson trade with Oakland, the organization’s middle infield depth was dealt a blow. However, Urena’s development helps fill that void — and he has a much better chance to stick at shortstop than Barreto does. The Jays’ prospect — who received a significant bonus as an international free agent in 2012 — is also showing unexpected power with seven home runs in his first 46 games of 2015 after he hit just two all last year. At just 19 years of age, he’s showing the ability to make adjustments. After posting a .250 average in April he’s up to .302 in May. The next step in his development will be a better eye and more patience; he’s walked just five times compared to 44 strikeouts. [Value Up]

Hard for me to get very excited about Urena's HR total when it only comes with a ~.140 ISO.

Seven homers... and only six doubles. It's not even really a power uptick.

don't forget the unspeakably ugly ratios. Yes he is young for that level but Urena's numbers are mediocre after accounting for that.

He's aslo 19.

I'm not saying that he sucks. The position, age, and hit tool all seem nice. But it's not like he's having a breakout or anything
