theblujay Verified Member Posted July 15, 2013 Author Posted July 15, 2013 So Graveman only pitched 2 innings for Lansing: 0H 0ER 1BB 0K. I wonder why they didn't let him go more, as he is definitely stretched out after pitching in college all year.
OtisNixonFan Verified Member Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Has anyone bothered to figure out how we can get Alford arrested again? One more run-in and we can bring him over to the darkside. The baseball side.
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 15, 2013 Author Posted July 15, 2013 I showed the tweet, he's full of s*** lol he didn't have any inside the park home runs Too bad that woulda been really cool. But I guess him crushing a ball is just as good.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I think GCL for both, that's where all of the high school pitchers have gone this year I agree, most likely GCL. Tellez has much more polish than Brentz though. Brentz is basically all arm strength at this point from what I've seen. His secondaries are pretty fringy and he doesn't have the best command. They really need to refine his delivery as well before they send him out there. He has this awkward leg kick hesitation that messes with his command cause it keeps him from striding directly towards the plate. Probably the best lefty velocity in the draft though, and as a former position player he has the athleticism to incorporate the necessary adjustments.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 LF Eric Arce was released yesterday from Bluefield. Can't find a reason yet.
8D Verified Member Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Rape x2 or Jays really clearing house trying to make room for new draftees?
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Guys like Dj davis, dwight smith jr and Michael Crouse having good years.
flafson Verified Member Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 It's really promising to see lower level guys with enough pop to hit a home run. Usually the box scores in the lower levels show 0 home runs.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Stroman is easily my favorite player on Twitter:
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 (edited) Hope we hang on to him, and hope he's in the bigs before too much longer. Edited July 15, 2013 by G-Snarls
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Sanchez, Stroman, Osuna That's not a bad bunch to hang on too for SP of the future.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Norris, Smoral, Brentz, Lietz, Gabrys, Gonzalez, DeJong, Hollon, Murphy, Smith, Tirado, Labourt, Cardona seems to be a decent next wave as well.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Sean Nolin's got another good start going, why is he not in AAA yet?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Only 77 pitches through 7 innings for Nolin, just dealing tonight
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 Only 77 pitches through 7 innings for Nolin, just dealing tonight I was at the NH game tonight, I'll have a more detailed report in a little bit.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Stroman and Nolin arguably increasing their value as we approach the deadline, it'll be interesting to see if AA deals either of them.
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 Davis follows his 2 HR game with a 4K game tonight
mitchf Verified Member Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Matt Smoral 0,2IP, 4 walks He's a complete mess right now.
ReturnOfTheYeti Verified Member Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 He's a complete mess right now. Honestly, for anyone to be taking ANY numbers from a guy's first year in the GCL as meaning anything (good or bad)...I just don't get it, give the guy a chance to learn how to pitch.

He's just so wild it has to be a worry same thing goes with brentz for me.
ReturnOfTheYeti Verified Member Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 He's just so wild it has to be a worry same thing goes with brentz for me. It's no different than saying that Rowley is the next super-stud since he has 6 IP with 14 K. It's great and all but it's an incredible small sample size and these kids are so raw, performance at this level can't be taken as indicative at all. Yeah, he's wild, that's why he's at pretty much the lowest level, he's learning to pitch. Give him a couple of years - at the very least, that's the whole point. A loose comparison on the hitting end would be Dwight Smith who had a really wretched last year and is showing improvement this year. It all goes to back what I said that regardless how well they do or don't do that low, is pretty much completely irrelevant, especially in the case of a pitcher who has only 3 IP as a professional. Just my opinion.

Look, as a million dollar baby, we really hope he can pitch jsut like advertised. But early results have shown otherwise. We all hope he can figure it out, but at the same time I feel he is getting more credits because of his draft signing bonus. PS: I m not saying he is bust, but I am cautiously optimistic.

I hope he can do - I'm not saying he can or he can't - just saying that it's WAY too early to be basing any conclusion on the likelihood, that's all.

StevieRay Verified Member Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Oh yeah, a little stats watching: To my calculation, Daniel Norris pitched to 1.27 ERA in his last 8 (scattered) starts. Woohoo.

You clearly are, no patience and the price tag take precedence over logic I guess. Pitchers take significantly longer to develop, so I say develop patience
